GSoC Report - week 8

GSOC Report - Week 9

Since no one posted anything, let me start the ball rolling..... 1) What did you do in the past week? -Added new camera controls e.g. tilt,forward,rotate etc -Added tool to rotate objects around X,Y and Z -Set up website to publish FreeCAD/Croquet and provide instructions 2) What do plan to do this week? -Implement a grid plan on the drawing board to act as a ruler and guide when drawing. -Add the much needed and delayed Joints to connect two markers 3) What can possibly stand in the way of your work? -Still, 3D transforms are complicated but I'm getting the hang of it Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

I have released freeCAD/Croquet 0.2 . All feedback will be appreciated. The instructions below will help you install and update freeCAD/Croquet. More detailed instructions are available on my site http://www.oopgames.com/freecad/ Regards, Fong From web browser, download Cobalt http://croquet-src-01.oit.duke.edu/cobalt.html Save in a folder e.g. c:\cobalt From Windows Explorer, unzip and open the containing folder e.g. c:\cobalt\cobalt-base-current-build-20080703 From web browser, download the monticello package http://croquet-src-01.oit.duke.edu:8886/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-kayef.5.mcz Save in the package-cache folder e.g. c:\cobalt\cobalt-base-current-build-20080703\package-cache From Windows Explorer, double click on Croquet.bat Inside Cobalt, click on black background to open World Menu. Select 'Open' 'Monticello Browser' In Monticello Browser, in right pane, click on the package-cache directory e.g. c:\cobalt\cobalt-base-current-build-20080703\package-cache Click open In the new window that opens, select FreeCAD-kayef.5.mcz Click load Close the Monticello Browser Inside Cobalt, click on black background to open World Menu. Actually I have announced it on the first week of GSOC but u guys might have missed it. Let me update and release the second part and I'll post again to let u guys know where to get it. I'm also trying to write documentations on how to use some of the features. I have announced the first release in the Croquet-dev list before and there were some comments before. 1) What did you do in the past week? -Fixed drawing movement with mouse. Drag and move properly enabled now. Drag and rotate is also fixed. -Experimenting with camera movements. Tilt, forward, back, rotate are some of the motions enabled on keyboard. -Added a pop up info board that shows the position of the mouse on the drawing board to enable better and more accurate drawing. Pop up also added to drawing when dragged and moved to show the position of the drawing. 2) What do plan to do this week? -Finalize camera movement and try to integrate some of it with the mouse. -Implement a grid plan on the drawing board to act as a ruler and guide when drawing. 3) What can possibly stand in the way of your work? -No feedback and no one trying out the things I have done puts me in the dark about how user friendly the controls are. Don't Forget Mid-term Evaluations

Don't forget students and mentors to fill out the mid-term evaluations. The deadline is Monday at 19:00 UTC. Each student have at least one form to fill out, all mentors have a form and those with a student have two. Students and mentors with students must fill out their forms or the student will, I believe, be dropped from the program without payment. So do it at your first opportunity. Ken

Hi students, The midterm evaluation period has started today. You have until Monday, July 14th, 19:00 UTC to complete your evaluation. The survey shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
