Base64?

Hello, I try to figure out how to use the Base64MimeConverter class to encode binary (image content from a WAFile instance) to base64 format, so I can safely upload it into a MySQL BLOB. However when I encode with: encode := Base64MimeConverter mimeEncode: (ReadStream on: ((aFile contents) asString)). I can save it in a BLOB without problem. However the oposit operation is not working: decode := Base64MimeConverter mimeDecodeToBytes: (ReadStream on: (result valueNamed: 'image')). I got the following error: MessageNotUnderstood: SmallInteger>>asciiValue from the Base64MimeConverter>>nextValue method. It looks like it is expecting a char but it gots a SmallInteger. Does it come from the initial conversion? Or should I convert the initial content a Stream of char? How? Thanks Hilaire

Unstable Squeak and ZIP handling

Hi, tried downloading KomHttpServer from SqueakMap into Squeak. It just works in a 3.7/3.8alpha image but not in an updated unstable stream image (loaded updates up to 6326). 'bad signature 07000017 at position 18686' Looks like one of the changeset introduced a difference in ZIP handling. Didnt find the time to debug. Is anyone else able to reproduce this? Morphic help

I'm going crazy trying to simply create a SystemWindow with horizontal and vertical scroll bars and programmatically add morphs and connector morphs to it. I want to be able to select and move morphs without having to alt left click until I get the popup menu for the morph. I also want to be able to resize the System Window and have all submorphs behave. It seems to me I need to: 1. create SystemWindow 2. add a pasteUpMorph to it. 3. set the pasteUpMorph to be large ( larger than the systemWindow, but have its upper left corner always coincide with the upper left corner of the systemWindow. 4. have the scroll bars on the systemWindow scroll around to different locations on the pasteUpMorph. 5. Be able to drop or programmatically add morphs to the pasteUpMorph at the dropped positions or at the programmatically determined positions. Could someone give me some pseudo code for me to work from or pointers or tell me where my assumptions are wrong. -- Best regards, Lynn mailto:lhales@earthlink.net

Gcc dependencies in VMMaker

Hi Tim, Is there any easy way to get VMMaker to generate C code that doesn't include all the Gcc dependencies that the latest version does? I'm trying to build an updated 3.7 VM for WinCE (i.e. my iPaq 2210), and the current VMMaker output from 3.7-5989 Full makes MS VC++ quite cranky. Thanks! -Dean

RE: changing code in a skript

I use the following line in my startup script: FileStream fileIn: (FileDirectory default pathName, FileDirectory slash, 'someChangeSet.cs'). The someChangeSet.cs file is located in the same directory as my image. I have a change set that has all of the changes of methods that I commonly overwrite in my image. I did it originally with the compile:notifiying:, but then found I was adding more methods here and there and it was cleaner to just put all of the changed methods (and new ones) into a separate file. Either way will work of course.
