error on process termination

Hi y'all, I am getting an error when terminating my process and it loops infinitely stacking this error recursively. > nil doesNotUnderstand: stepToCallee This is called from Context>>#runUntilErrorOrReturnFrom: aSender after this method has tried to get the topContext. Somehow topContext is nil, and I am guessing that returns from one of the context pops, in the following code from #runUntilErrorOrReturnFrom:. > "Control resumes here once above ensure block or exception handler is executed" > ^ error ifNil: [ > "No error was raised, remove ensure context by stepping until popped" > [ctxt isDead] whileFalse: [topContext := topContext stepToCallee]. > {topContext. nil} Have I setup the process incorrectly to receive this error or is something else the issue? I digging in old experiments So I found a 7179-basic.226publ.image and some .mcz we made with Hannes Hirzel long time ago Bring all BabySRE to modern Squeak take longer to me , so I share for young people my founds. Problems come of format changes in .image and also in missing dependencies Here you have some BabySRE in old 4.5 running in old iMac 2009 with John VM. Metacello related(?) MCFetchBitbucketRepository class>>#cacheDirectoryPath causes dNU when saving preferences

In a 5.3-19435 image with metacello loaded yesterday I just tried to save my preferences and caught an error. Part of the saving process involves converting PragmaPreferences to saveable plain preferences and that in turn means finding the relevant value, which in the case of MCFetchBitbucketRepository means the cacheDirectoryPath. Sadly, the implementation is ^super cacheDirectoryPath and no super class implements it. Boom. The only implementation of #cacheDirectoryPath that has a definite value is in MCGitBasedNetworkRepository class>>#cacheDirectoryPath. Since MCBitbucketRepository is a subclass of this and would thus be happy, I suspect that MCFetchBitbucketRepository being a subclass of MCFilesystemFetchOnlyRepository implies that it should in turn implement a suitable version of #cacheDirectoryPath. The whole MCFilesystemFetchOnlyRepository tree is dated fairly recently and commented as a new approach to decoupling some stuff, so I would imagine that it simply hasn't been banged on enough to catch all this stuff yet. My guess is that a simple copy of the MCGitBasedNetworkRepository class>>#cacheDirectoryPath would work here - but I'm certainly not involved enough in metacello to be an authority. It 'works' in the sense that it allows saving my preferences but whether it would work for metacello operations... no idea. I'll also note (since I have experience of it startling people on too many occasions) that MCGitBasedNetworkRepository keeps several repository cache values as class instance variables and the newer MCFilesystemFetchOnlyRepository class is keeping them as class variables. FFI and mpfr calls in squeak

So I tested a simple mandelbrot set rendering algorithm using the ArbitraryPrecisionFloat package and it works just fine, but terribly slowly. So I had the idea of using mpfr via FFI and find that I can’t even begin. I’m getting the dreaded External module not found error and just can’t get rid of it. I thought I was taking the easy route and simply copying the mpfr library into the Squeak all-in-one Resources directory but no matter what I try, that error pops up. initPrecision: aDefaultPrecision “initialize default precision" <cdecl: void 'mpfr_init' (long ) module:'libmpfr.6.dylib'> ^self externalCallFailed This is roughly the “hello world” of using mpfr, I thought, but can’t even do that. Now, waiting in the wings is a bigger problem, I think: the mpfr library uses the gmp library. So how does one do THAT with squeak? Compile both libraries into a single target? (yikes!). That might be an issue later on, but the impression I’m getting is that squeak simply can’t find libmpfr.6.dylib, so errors that result from calling a second library from the first haven’t even popped up yet. I can now focus on the Seaside compat between Squeak and Pharo.
