[Minimal Basic, Full categories] Sounds good to me, except that we don't currently have any Minimal packages, and I'm not quite clear on what they'd mean. However, tagging the Basic and Full packages seems useful (simpler "load Full" script).
I'd like to say this would also give us a trivial "strip down to basic" script, but there currently is no uniform way for packages to unload themselves...

Hi all! I'd like to do a very small request. I have done a very small Log Engine You can see it at < http://sourceforge.net/projects/cat/ > < http://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/cat/LogEngine1.0.st.gz >
I'd like to put it in the next Squeak Base image, because I think it can be a very useful tool for developers.

Yes, I agree that this should be in the "Basic" Squeak. It still should be a package though.
And while we are on that subject (or something): Should I create categories "Minimal", "Basic" and "Full" and put them under... some nice top category?
And are there other categories we would like to have?

Hi daniel
I do not know the quality of the package, but I would really to have a default logger available in the core so that we could redirect error to one place. So may be this should not be in the minimal I do not know. This is related to the discussion of removing all the windows popping up everywhere where you do not have UI. Do webserver people and other headless users tried the package because this would be nice to have the point of view of potential users.

I will glance over it. And yes, "Minimal" as a category makes no sense since no packages will be in there. :-) I will start by creating "Full" and "Basic".

Someone should look at Comanche 6.1 (load it into Squeak 3.5) and look at how it handles logging...it can do several of the things mentioned that the LogEngine supports...it would be good to find out what kind of synergies exist in the two.
