3.2.5 mac vm stability (vote please)

Someone out there informed me that they've had some stability problems with the 3.2.5 mac VM on system 8.x. a) It's nice that they called. (feedback is always good). b) It's a surprise to me. So I need some feedback on 3.2.5 or 3.2.6 mac classic VM usage and if people are experiencing lockups or issues with loss of keyboard input after running squeak for some hours. Although the os-x version of the Squeak VM is quite different inside, the classic version of squeak if you are running OS 9.1 or lower shouldn't have changed much beyond the code reorganization and a wee bit of code cleanup (usually that type of work introduces issues of course). So if you'be been running a classic Mac VM and having issues, please let me know. -- -- =========================================================================== John M. [Germany] Squeak e.V.

Hi all, Over the last weeks we (some Squeakers from .de) discussed what we could do here in Germany to help the Squeak Foundation. We came to the conclusion that it may be a be good idea to have a local organsation for Squeak here in Germany. We intend to set up a thing called "Verein" This is the legal form that most non-profit organisations have here in Germany. It's simple to set up. After incorparating the Squeak e.V. will be able to have a bank account and (with a little bit more work) be entitled to issue donation-recites (lower your taxes!) for people or corparations that give money. Besides collecting money Squeak e.V. will maintain a german Website about Squeak (squeak.de) and serve as a local contact for "everything squeak" here in Germany. re - signing documents

Hmmm - maybe Cees is right. Since we all operate under a license that originated with Apple, haven't they already effectively signed, i.e. we're just pointing out they should put their own software out in this venue ? Also, IANAL but maybe just about anyone/thing could do this, because the agreement results in no net material change, i.e. it doesn't change the rights of a single individual an iota. Realistically speaking, "Hey, Alan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help! " That said, I have to go back to working on a powerful feature of Squeak available only in the Windows 2K environment, the ability to blue screen the OS. Bet apple wishes they had cool features like that :-/ MMM

A need to something to sign some documents for Apple's iDisk distribution.

Morning all. I asked Apple what's involved in distributing Squeak on their iDisks. iDisks, part of their iTools platform allow anyone (mac or windows) to access 20mb of storage from the disktop. Now part of the stuff you can get at is numerous third party software. So I asked about distributing Squeak using that platform. Many mac owners mount their iDisk and look at the third party software. The answer is yes, but someone needs to fill out a form with stuff like Grant of Rights for Materials: Licensor hereby grants to Apple a worldwide, nonexclusive, fully paid-up, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, have reproduced, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute Licensor's materials described in Exhibit A attached hereto So who wants the form? The iDisk Software Distribution Program was launched in December of 2000 with the goal of bringing the best of Mac OS X Public Beta software to the iTools community. With the subsequent releases of Mac OS X and its tight integration with iTools, the scope of the iDisk Software Distribution Program has broadened to become a distribution model for all software that runs on Mac OS X.
