Hello,
There was a deadline called ship.2 to stabilize a software verstion that will be factory-installed. We were also stabilizing and fixing a few annoying bugs for the deadline.
It seems that the version is finalized (there might be very last minute changes on the OLPC side), but as far as Etoys is concerned, we sucessfully delivered a good version for it.
We have parallel development going and push a few updates to a future stream. But now the version we were using (etoy 2.2) can be migrated to the new version 2.3.
To bring your 2.2 image to 2.3, simply update your image twice. Or, download pre-loaded images and changes from:
http://tinlizzie.org/olpc/etoys-dev-2.3-1815.zip
or the same thing from:
http://etoys.laptop.org/svn/trunk/etoys/etoys-dev.image http://etoys.laptop.org/svn/trunk/etoys/etoys-dev.changes
The latter two will tend to be updated more frequently, so depending on the usage, you might want to keep eyes on the
http://etoys.laptop.org/svn/trunk/etoys/
folder.
Thank you!

Although I'd rather like to not change these two for every new build. I'd like these to stay constant, and have a directory with all the updates in it. To produce a runtime image, we'd make a script that runs the dev image, applies all updates from disk, adjusts all preferences, condenses sources, and saves that as etoys.image.

Hi yoshiki
how does it work for projects to be included such as drGeo and Botsinc?

The current theory is still a separeted project for the image. Unfortunately not much progress on that front.

The right thing to do is to make a .xo bundle and list it at:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activities
To make a .xo, Bert has a way to make a change set or a project to it. In this way, you can make relatively small .xo file but loading would talke longer. You could also make your own image.
Saving the user's work into Journal would require some work for both cases.

For me I will do what is the best for the system. So let me know I thought that a etoy project was enough.

I saw that hilaire provided a sar. So can I provide a project how do we specify that this should be laucnhed with squeak?

A project will actually be launched by Squeak automatically, the Journal knows about that relationship. We do not declare to handle SARs yet, is there a MIME type for it?
But I guess you would want to put the project inside an .xo bundle for BotsInc, because then it can easily be put on the Activities page as Yoshiki mentioned, it has its own icon etc. The bundle would look very similar to the DiceWars bundle I sent around a while ago.

Note that this is somewhat old, but should serve well to illustrate the point. The EPaati bundle is probably better, and best copying the etoys bundle, and editing to suit your needs.

Thanks I found that page but I not aware that obj = xo. is Epaati bundle on the machine? Sorry to ask how to find all these files I look like an idiot but I cannot find them.
BTW should we package the other Hpi projects as bundle. The game play of the break out is a bit difficult but the other games could be fun to have ?

That is just an artifact of that dumb mail archiver. Yes, rename to .xo (or .zip to unpack).
EPaati is here:
