Hi, Attached is a patch that adds horizontal and vertical flip commands to the viewer along with some fixes to the corresponding player commands. It should now be easy to create sketches with mirror symmetry. Subbu

Hi, Stef. Sugar cannot install your original verion because of its archive structure (all files must be under single root folder). I repackaged it (attached) and at least it is installed and run on my XO (Build650) ! Though there is room for improvement, this should be good start! Cheers, /Korakurider

[Etoys] Questions on etoys based activity

Hi, Bert. I am trying your DiceWars xo bundle to understand developing etoys-based activity (and to study how to translate activities). Please let me newbie ask : + On my B4 (with Build650/Q2D07), the activity wouldn't start (I waited a few minutes and gave it up). I installed it by sending *.xo to myself by gmail and just download from gmail on XO :-) ("To install an activity" of http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activities says that launching from Journal entry is needed to complete installing. But I just downloaded it and activity appeared in task bar) Am I doing wrong? (ok, I will try again with the proper installation step in http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Creating_an_activity) Or Do I need to upgrade my box to newer unstable release? Or Is launching etoys-based activity incredibly slow? + How can I know home path of currently running activity in etoys code? By the information I can tweak to search path for activity MOs. Any hint will be appreciated. Thanks in advance! /Korakurider

[Etoys] loading application in Etoys image

Reading Stephan's BotIncs progresses is encouraging about using etoys image as a base for additional Smalltalk application. Last November, related to DrGeo we had a thread about fast loading of compiled code in an existing image. The discussion went over my understanding and I am not sure if it lead to workable solution. What is the state of affair? Hilaire

OK if we forget the OpenGl thing.. if Croquet people release a 2d version of Croquet.. i think there is a project called Tin Lizzie, that uses 2d graphics... how easy it is , to install a croquet imge, like etoyz image into sugar? like a separate activity... i read that e-toys image has a little sugar glue code, .. what can i do to run croquet image inside sugar, or inside e-toys? [Etoys] Need help loading saved eToys projects into a squeak image on my Mac

There are 3 kids in the house, and only one XO. They've all go the eToys bug (thank you team!), so I'm trying to get the eToys image to work on a Mac. I downloaded the eToys image and runtime from the laptop.org Wiki, and it works fine. I'm able to create new projects and they're saved in the Squeakland/Squeaklets directory as expected. The problem is that I'm not able to load them back into the eToys image. The eToys image doesn't have an obvious way to load a project. If I double click on the project, I end up in a bare squeak environment that gets errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Steve

Hello, i am currently studying on Croquet platform and OLPC-XO laptop. I would like to ask you , if there is a way for Croquet and OLPC-XO (or e-toys activity inside it) to be together. Both Croquet and OLPC activity "e-toys" rely on Squeak VM, but in etoys' Squeak VM there is NO OpenGL 3D Graphics Support. [it is a parameter in Squeak.ini file]. Could it be imported into e-toys such a big project like Croquet? is there any way of doing this? Sharing the same VM.. Or by creating a separate activity, like e-toys image and importing it into Sugar? i am asking this because the base platform is Squeak Vm and there must be some way of the two platforms integrate into one. hope i am not confusing you... thanx in advance for your answers... with regards, Alex Asimakopoulos Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
