Hi,
Very bad.
I have asked for a manual reset, this will happen after 10am tommorow (in 11hours).
I will enquire at hetzner what the problem can be. One thing we could think about is upgrading the server to new hardware... the current system that you get for new contracts of 49EUR/Month is:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Dual Core, 2 GB DDR2, 2 x 400 GB SATA II
I am sure we could switch to that with just paying once 99EUR... the only problem is logistics: installing the new machine, moving services over and so on.

Thanks Marcus,
I'm not too happy with the reboot delay, but I guess you get what you pay for. I've also been thinking about a new server but was hoping to put it off for a few months, maybe even until the SFLC situation is sorted out. That may not be possible. We started with Hetzner because of the relatively low cost and because we had some familiarity with the service. Maybe we should consider a more expensive service though with better customer service. I don't have any clue what we can or cannot afford, something I would REALLY like to change. Also there have been some instances where access to the server has been slow recently, not obviously due to activity on the server itself.

Who actually pays for the server right now? Is this Squeak Germany even now? Does anyone know when they will run out of cash?

Well, who actually is writing the checks or providing a credit card number is either someone with ESUG or perhaps Squeak eV. I can't seem to keep the details in mind. But, barring some expenses I'm not aware of, the Squeak community should have been able to provide sufficient funding. IIRC the GSOC project from last year netted the fund $2000-$2500 dollars not counting purchases of badges and other donations. And we should get the same from GSOC this year.

Hey, this is germany. No Credit Cards, no Checks. Hetzner is authorized to directly grab the money from Squeak-ev's bankaccount. Like direct deposit, just the inverse.

Yes, in addtion there was a "starting grant" from esug of ca. $3000, if I remember correctly.
There should be quite some money on the bank.

I've just had it from Giovanni that in fact he still has the funds from last year. He understands that at some point he is to write a check to Noury but is just waiting to take care of it in one step after receiving the funding from Google for this year. But that does open the door to questions of how well the account being used to fund the server is currently doing. Of course if it started with $3000, and our costs are only around $500 per year, then I don't guess we have much to worry about yet.

Thanks. But I'm confused. What do you mean regarding issues a reset request for 'tomorrow'? Are you anticipating it going down again or something?
Has there been any explanation for what is going on?
Thanks for setting up the monitoring also. Can you add my email address to that also?

Ah, no, that meant: today.

No, but I did not yet ask (I will)

I think there was some confusion, the server came back up just under half an hour ago.
