Hi,
For a numbe of things, it would be nice to have a subversion running on box2... e.g. we need a way to manage the translation files in a way that people can work together on them.
Would it be possible to get subversion running on box2?

I still think darcs is much, *much* nicer :) (www.darcs.net). Much easier to install too (at least compared to what I experienced with Subversion a while back).

But I know how to use subversion, everyone has subversion, the vm people use subversion.
Now darcs can be nicer, yes, but that's not *at all* what is important.
Let's for once do something step-by-step, not "do nothing because we could do something better".

Sure, I just mentioned it. I am not against Subversion - feel free to get it installed. :)
And this has nothing to do with "step-by-step" IMHO. Both tools exist and are being used today in production.

That's fine with me. I'll try to get that done later today. If I have any questions I'll let you know.

I simply apt-get installed subversion and subversion-tools which results in svn version 1.1.4 and related being installed. Does anything else need to be done?

What we need is a repository for the translation files.
So the next step would be to set up this repository. The place for the repository could be /files/svn, as with this we will get it mirrored / put on DVD with the rest. (a checked out version should be available, too).
The first step is to use it for the translations, the second would be to coordinate with the vm people to move the vm svn repository over.
