Hi Levente and all, I received this email from someone today. Can you think of any reason this would happen?
I'm in the lists.squeakfoundation.org admin page -- since he's not a member, nothing in the "Membership Management" would allow me to filter these confirmation's. Nothing in the "Auto-responder" looked like it could help..
Maybe he'll have to set up a mail filter I just thought I'd at give a shot to filter it more upstream..

Hi! Your message says that I should contact you if I think I’m being maliciously subscribed to your mailing list. As this was one of thousands of surprise “Please confirm” requests I received today, I’m quite sure it was malicious. I appreciate your wanting to know.

Mailing list subscription confirmation notice for mailing list Magma
We have received a request from 127.0.0.1 for subscription of your email address, "dragonturtle@dccnet.com", to the magma@lists.squeakfoundation.org mailing list. To confirm that you want to be added to this mailing list, simply reply to this message, keeping the Subject: header intact. Or visit this web page:
http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/confirm/magma/6d720d2ff5ebaa8c1070...
Or include the following line -- and only the following line -- in a message to magma-request@lists.squeakfoundation.org:
confirm 6d720d2ff5ebaa8c1070b0a9f02a7fdba4b46028
Note that simply sending a `reply' to this message should work from most mail readers, since that usually leaves the Subject: line in the right form (additional "Re:" text in the Subject: is okay).
If you do not wish to be subscribed to this list, please simply disregard this message. If you think you are being maliciously subscribed to the list, or have any other questions, send them to magma-owner@lists.squeakfoundation.org.
The same guy got subscribed to a squeakland mailing list, apparently, and contacted the -owner address (me). Using the exact same words. "one of thousands" sounds weird.
I don't know what to make of it.

I don't know what to make of it.
I think some bot tries to subscribe random addresses to random (public) mailman lists.
Especially “We have received a request from 127.0.0.1 …” points into that direction.
I think we should politely thank the sender and ignore/reject the confirmation mail (if we are able to do the latter, else, it doesn't matter, actually).
