[Etoys] Journal access problem

I've been looking into accessing the Journal from Squeak but I can't get it to work. In SugarLauncher>>startUp I changed ServerDirectory addServer: (SugarDatastoreDirectory mimetype: 'application/x-squeak-project' extension: '.pr') named: SugarLauncher defaultDatastoreDirName. to read ServerDirectory addServer: (SugarDatastoreDirectory mimetype: 'image/jpeg' extension: '.jpg') named: SugarLauncher defaultDatastoreDirName. When I select [Projects in Journal] I see jpegs and their content get loaded in the bottom pane in FileList but when I select the file I get a message that the file could not be found, and to select a new name. Anybody have any clue to this ? Karl

Is there any documentation on mimetypes for datastore ? I found (SugarDatastoreDirectory mimetype: 'application/x-squeak-project' extension: '.pr') but if I want to list pictures what is the mimetype ? karl

[Etoys] Localization guidelines for a developer

Folks, As an eToys/Squeak project developer, what should I be doing to ensure that my project is easily localizable? Do we have a set of conventions that I can follow? I gather that eToys doesn't use NaturalLanguageTranslator, so I suppose that (e.g.) 'Syntax error on line {1}' translate format: { linenumber }. isn't what I want. How does gettext work from the Squeak perspective? Thanks, Ben

Hi, Stef. Sugar cannot install your original verion because of its archive structure (all files must be under single root folder). I repackaged it (attached) and at least it is installed and run on my XO (Build650) ! Though there is room for improvement, this should be good start! Cheers, /Korakurider

[Etoys] condense sources?

Folks, Now, the images some of us are using are reaching their .changes file size limit. There are a few different approaches we can take (such as incorporating a change that extend the limit), but we can take a low-key solution for this to make it simple. Namely, we condense the sources and make a new .sources file named (perhaps) "EtoysV1.sources". Simply condencing changes wouldn't buy us so much as a lot of modifications to methods that exsited when SqueakV3.sources was made. Of course, loss of method history is bad. We can potentially incorporate the "VersionsBrowser" by Maurice Rabb in our image so that we can compare the versions of methods that are not in the current .changes or .sources. What do you think? -- Yoshiki

I have used Wiebe Barons WebCamMorph and added some Etoy support to it. It is possible to track a color with the camera and a ellipse on the screen reflect the movement.
