The box-admins team is reponsible for seeing that the community shared server is maintained and setting up any new features to be hosted on that server.
For February, 2009:
We received a complain from Undernet that an undesirable bot was accessing their IRC network from our server. At first I was skeptical since I couldn't find any indication on the server that any such thing was happening. But in the end I did find a bot service running under the name 'bash'. I killed it and remove the cron entry which started it. I still don't know how it got on the server. Some timestamps such it may have happened during the difficulty we had with the server in October. As far as I can tell other than running this bot nothing else was done. Göran later ran chkrootkit and rkhunter and found nothing. For now we are keeping our eyes open and have held on to the installed files for any further analysis that comes to mind.
Otherwise the server has been running smoothly and continuously since the trouble in October.
Some discussion of replacing the server has begun although it is early in the process. First we have to determine what is a reasonable budget and I'm hopeful that with the new Leadership team we can have greater transparency in this area.
I want to thank the community for the monetary support needed to fund the server and remind you that the bills continue to appear and that you can currently contribute to the hosting costs by going to

and purchasing a Squeak badge. Note that a donation here may be used for other Squeak community services including but not limited to development, development infrastructure, and promotion of Squeak.
The services being hosted have continued to grow and include (but are not limited to):
SqueakMap - http://map.squeak.org/
http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/
http://source.squeakfoundation.org/
http://update.squeakfoundation.org/
and DNS services for squeak.org and squeakfoundation.org domain names.
