Hi!
Whoever is going to take over the responsibilities for being the overall mailing list administrator from Marcus needs to coordinate with the box-admins team since we receive the complaints and requests generally. It would be great if that person would join the box-admins mailing list and consider themselves a team member even if their only task related to the team is managing the mailing lists.
Thanks,
Ken

I could be admin, but as with Marcus, it would be good to have someone else be the backup. And that backup better not displace the password as I did, again ... can you (or Marcus) send it to me once more?

That's certainly fine with me. I don't belive I have that password so I'll let Marcus field that one.

Oops. Ken - I missed the "overall" in your mail, would that mean I accidentally volunteered to manage every single squeak mailing list? I can't really do that, I thought it was for the Board mailing list only ... or could someone clue me in what "overall admin" means? Are there other candidates to do this?

It's actually not really that much work... (especially as there is the box-admins list with many great people to help).
It even would be no problem to just continue to do it for me.... but it should be done by someone who actually is subscribed to at least the big lists, I guess... and then I wanted to have no Squeak for the next 12 months, but that doesn't really seem to work anyway...

No, no worries. As Marcus has otherwise stated it shouldn't be much work. What it entails is for the most part simply creating new lists (or deleting old ones I suppose) that need to be created because you are given access to the mechanism to do so. Also this gives you access to each individual list but that does not mean you are expected to handle every little request or go through the moderated messages, each list has its own administrator or set of administrators for that. But if someone loses their password, or the existing administrator disappears, then you are in a position to slot someone else in, otherwise without the individual list password we would be stuck.
There are perhaps some other corner cases that could come up, but it would be pretty rare. While Marcus was doing the job he did work to move lists we had setup under ezmlm to mailman, for example, but he completed that and I can't immediately foresee anything else of that sort.
Ken
P.S. And as Marcus also stated you are backed up by the box-admins team for any real work. The main thing is that old chestnut of mine that I simply don't feel comfortable with anyone but a Board member having access each and every mailing list including the private archives of the Board mailing list. There is another reason, which is that there is another board member job which is the Teams Leader. One of this person's jobs is to see that everyone team that wants one has a mailing list. It's very handy if these two jobs are done by the same person (which is what I did) but still pretty handy for it to be two seperate board members.

All right. I'll do it then if nobody else wants the job (maybe Cees who is box admin team coordinator?). And whoever is teams leader would hopefully be my backup. Now if I could remember who that was ...

Well, I'm the teams leader, and I stand by my policy of volunteering for any task that goes uncovered (deferring to anyone else who wants to do it). So I can take this one.
thanks,

Very nice. So we can switch roles - you're overall mighty admin and I'm the backup :)
I'll send the password in pm.
