Hi, could I get the 3.8.18b1 macintosh carbon VM bundled with the current macintosh download, plus have any pointers to older versions updated on the website.
I guess the only place to update is ftp://ftp.squeak.org/3.9/mac which currently has a 3.8.15 version.
On the http://www.squeak.org/Download page likely it should read * Mac "MacOSX (Universal)" since the VM is universal build meaning PPC and MacIntel
I've pushed a 3.8.18b1 VM to my ftp site and to my idisk via
http://www.smalltalkconsulting.com/squeak.html
This VM includes David T Lewis' changes for 32bit clean memory oop address workm which is the most important VM work done in the last year or so. Macintosh users are welcome to figure out how big a memory space they can allocate by adjusting the info.plist

Do you want to place a new image in this location. I don't understand, sorry.

I added " (Universal)". Do MAC people know what that means?

The 3.8.18b1 should be added to this directory.
The Squeak3.9-7067mac vm 3.8.15beta1U.zip
contains I believe the Squeak3.9-7067 image/changes/source? and the mac vm 3.8.15beta1U
it should be replaced with I'll guess
Squeak3.9-7067mac vm 3.8.18beta1U.zip which is the Squeak3.9-7067 image/changes/source? and the mac vm 3.8.18beta1U

Oh yes, it's Apple's keyword for this product runs on MacBook MacIntel machines and older PowerBooks

I maded the bundle, you'll find it at the link attached
if you need a password it is 'public'
Ciao
Ok, well this looks fine, except for one issue.
The WelcomeSqueak39 file I think should be
WelcomeSqueak39.txt
Otherwise I get a message on the mac saying it does not know what application to use to open the file, please choose one.
I would assume this is also an issue for Linux and Windows and what to do with text files that have no extensions? Is the file the same name on those platforms too?

Is there any reason for not including the OSProcess plugin as standard in the mac vm distro?
Keith
Keith asked about sticking the macintosh carbon OSProcess in the VM bundle, I couldn't see a reason not to include it so..
I've just updated my copy of the 3.8.18b1 zip file to included the plugin as per his request.
This of course means you'll need to update the stuff on the squeak ftp site again.

I'd be glad to do it. Can you tell me where to get the updates and what you would like the squeak site to say?
Brad, I've already updated the 3.8.18b1 zip file on my ftp and idisk site, so you can download at any time.
I don't see that the squeak.org site even mentions OSProcess outside of http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/708 & http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/ 3349 But let me update I think http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/3349 to note the plugin is in the 3.8.18b1 build
