I put a new FunSqueak3.10alpha.6.image.
To list of previous packages, I add VMmaker and SystemTracer2.
For loading VMmaker , I first must load Speech-Klatt.st.
Was last versions for 3.8, so take easy until owners update his packages.
I remember FunSqueak 5 have
RoelTyper,eCompletion,Scheduler,Seaside,Pier,Magritte.
Server is running
To web team , please update the info and links.

Dear Squeakers,
Demo of new squeak.org on http://squeaksite.aidaweb.si:9000 has now also
more public editing rights. Just login as:
demo/demo
...and you should have Edit link up-right or edit icon below central
text. Clicking on it should open a WYSIWYG editor of content.
If you'll got a message "Please wait, page is currently locked by user:
Demo user", then someone else is just editing that page. Wait for
message: "Page is now released and ready to edit" or go back and select
other page and try editing it.. Also, editing on IE6 is not supported
yet, while IE7 is.
Try also uploading some image in below box, then simply drag it into the
text and resize it by dragging borders. Simply isn't it?
That's it, I think you can now see how easy is to maintain Scribo based
website and therefore I think it will also be easy to delegate some
maintenance duties to broader public. Of course there are still other
things to finish like RSS reader etc etc, soon, a day or two...
I hope that now you are convinced that with Aida/Scribo and vibrant
community behind which is able to deliver, a Squeak website would be in
safe hands and that you'll accept my offer.
Best regards
Janko

Folks :
I see all files are right and I attach the READMe for you put .
Still I wish know the involuntary mistake cause.
Also I beg actualize the info for the release and for FunSqueak.
Very thanks and apologize for troubles
Edgar
I delete some 3.10 files not needed , from 3.10 and 3.10alpha directories.
Also I rename 'Squeak3dot10.7159.image' file to Squeak3.10-7159-basic.zip
for following previous Squeak images conventions.
I was suggested to put some READMe.
I wish some with better English take the following and remade
=========
3dot10 is the first "official" release without some packages , in the road
to successive less complex images .
The target is going towards MininimalMorphic > Kernel > Spoon in next
releases.
This one don't have the following packages 3.9 have
#('Flash' 'StarSqueak' 'SmaCC' 'Speech' 'Movies' 'FixUnderscores' 'OB'
'OmniBrowser' )
For easier user experience, you have now Universes of Lex Spoon.
With it, you could load many external packages with active development.
For older or not in the Universes, you still have SqueakMap and could go to
http://www.squeaksource.com/ using a regular web browser like Firefox,
locate the package and add to MonticelloBrowser.
As example , for Installer of Keith Hodges is
http://www.squeaksource.com/Installer.
For Universes is http://www.squeaksource.com/universes.
This way you could load newer versions of your favorite
Quality control.
We now this is not perfect, but we have more of 2200 test which was run
under Mac OS X, Windows XP, and SimplyMepis 6.5 Linux each time a [BUG] or
[ENH] report on Mantis met our requirements and go to update stream.
Mantis
To this day, the way of Squeak could be better is doing a Mantis report

Dear all,
I prepared a contact form guarded with Captcha on my demo:
http://squeaksite.aidaweb.si/ContactUs/
Here only hardest part (captcha validation) works for now. Try by yourself.
Now we can start thinking about how to redesign and provide a better
text of that Contact Us page.
First question is, who are the users of this page? Newcomers who like to
come in contact with Squeak community in general? Or Squeakers who like
to contact the web team? Or both?
Best regards
Janko
Hi--
(From the 2008-03-19 Squeak board meeting minutes...)
Thanks to everyone who has been discussing the squeak.org website.
It is our unanimous recommendation that Janko lead the web team, and
continue coordinating work on the Squeak website. Our main concerns are
that the site be "search engine friendly", and that content updates
happen in a timely fashion. While we don't think a change in the site's
infrastructure is strictly necessary to address those concerns, we like
what Janko has done so far and appreciate the energy he has brought to
the task.
We exhausted the hour we had for the meeting before addressing
Brian Rice's request (about updating the content at the current site).
Sorry about that, Brian. Speaking for myself, it looks like Janko's demo
is far enough along that Brian might be able to make the updates there.
I'm hoping that he and Janko can come to some agreement about this. As
the Teams coordinator, I'm happy to help further that discussion.
Finally, the board agrees that the web team list is a better place
than squeak-dev to discuss the website.
thanks!

This is a well known problem, also on seaside.st. The problem is that
all feeds are encoded differently and sometimes even incorrect. I
don't know why the detection of the encoding doesn't work for weekly
Squeak, but this should be possible to fix.

I don't know that plugin. Currently pictures are always displayed as
is, unless you upload them resized or when using CSS (what is not
really nice).

I don't know of that issue. Is there a bug report in the Seaside issue tracker?

Currently the styles and the JavaScript (for the search) are all
served through the image. The files can be moved to Apache, like it is
done on my web-site and on seaside.st.

I didn't work on the design. What Pier uses is BlueprintCSS, a
framework to get a cross-browser compliant base of styles with decent
font settings. It is can be easily configured to look more like
Squeak.

Lukas,
Thanks for doing this so quickly, Lukas.
The only problem I have is in Firefox/Windows the "Screenshots" page:
the large screenshot goes completely across the right side of News.
The other issues are just cosmetic - like the size of fonts, etc.

Since we have some prospective new team members and leaders it's
probably a good time to talk about community server issues that affect
the website team. None of this will be news to existing team members
but perhaps having it all together here may be of some use even to them.
Backups
Currently the entire system is backed up both locally and remotely via
rsnapshot. The local backup is daily and we store 7 of these (1 week's
worth). The remote backup is 4 weekly and 12 monthly backups.
Rsnapshot uses rsync to transfer files.
One aspect of this is that the granularity of the backup is on the level
of a file. So in the local backup for example if there is a file on the
system that changes at least once daily then each backup will contain a
full copy of that file. This results in 8 copies of the file, this is
minor for small files of course but can become an issue with
multi-megabyte files, for example image and changes files. Bacause of
this it would be really helpful if the website were to use some other
storage mechanism than image snapshots.
FTP site
In addition to www.squeak.org the webteam is also responsible for the
Squeak FTP site at ftp.squeak.org. The webteam's responsibility is sort
of as a backup for those parts of the ftp site that are not managed by
someone else. For example each release team is responsible for their
section of the FTP site. The ftp content can be accessed through a
symbolic link in the webteam's account directory named 'ftpsite'.
Server Access
Primarily server access is via ssh and related tools such as scp. The
website team shares a single account and everyone who needs access to it
must provide a public ssh key which is added to the authorization list
for the account. Additionally there is support for running application
under a tightvnc server.
At the moment I can't think of any other information to impart. If
anyone thinks of something or has any questions let me know.
Ken
