There are backups in ~/images/backups. They are timestamped tar.gz files. Will not one of those work?
I tried that but it's backup of last snapshot and that dates back to September :-( We should have pressed that snapshot option more often. Karl
hmm... Well, I restored the last image from 01-29-2006. I see that the image was not snapshot-ed. So, do you want me to restore one of the 01-30 images?

You can try.

OK, I have created a new image from the test bed image, removed our test bed pages ('Needs Approval', 'Voting', etc.), cleaned up any obvious errors (like references to our test bed pages), restored the Download and Links section.
The Downloads and Link section fixes still need to be commited to the test image.
All -- please look at your pages. Correct any mistakes. Commit changes to the testing image.
One lesson to learn from all of this (besides the several about backups, image persistence, etc.) is to make sure that changes go into the test image and are snapshotted. I am sure there are things we lost from the original image because they were not put into the test bed. The test bed ought to be an accurate reflection of the real image plus the addition of our development and testing efforts.
Another lesson (at least for now) is to use the Snapshot functionality on every change.

Multimedia page looks ok.
There's missing text in the left menu box after Community. But, the main site has that too. (for some reason, I thought the bottom icons were smaller. But, the main site has the same site, so I must be imagining things)

sheessshh.. I mean "But the main site as the same size, so I must be imaging things."
(don't send msgs when you're half asleep)
I believe the images were smaller. However, they were not updated in the test bed image. The main site is a copy of the test bed image that has been updated to remove testing content, etc. So, someone will need to update them.

Thank you, Jason. Great effort as usual :-)

Yes, this all sounds like good ideas to we have to adopt. I guess we will discover more stuff along the way. The test image should be kept in sync, but will sometimes contain experimental code so it's not a real backup. Hopefully not to much is lost.

Every change! This is important.
Thanks again for kind word to me after I messed up. And BIG thanks to Jason for doing all the fixing. Karl
