Please check out the test site. I've added items that people commented about. I've also reformatted a bit. The front page text has changed, but no other text has changed. The text that is missing is the "About" text on the front page and the links have been put over to the right. We can integrate the "About" text into the "About" page at any time.
What do you think?

How about soliciting opinions for the general community? Since this did start on the squeak-dev list...
+1 - I like the simplicity.
-0.1 - It doesn't handle changing font sizes very well (ctrl-+, ctrl--). Minor... (Nor does the current squeak.org front page actually.)

It'd be nice to get input from this group first.

Good to know. Thanks.

Thanks for everyone's comments. It seems that _most_ people prefer, or at least don't violently object to, the colors at this moment (13-Jan 10:30 PST)
The objections to some of the content has been addressed, I believe. If it hasn't please let me know and I'll try to fix it.
The only issue left is the logos on the bottom. I'll check into that when I can.
I'm sure I missed something so, Any additional comments welcome!
thanks for your help!
I think the dark blue of the upper left pane and middle pane headers might possibly look just a bit better if exactly the same dark blue as the header image.
And what do you think about returning the 'powered by Smalltalk' to the bottom center?
Good work, Thx! Ken

Which blue? It's a gradient. But actually, I took several colors from header, tried them out and settled on the one that is there now.
If you have a suggestion let me know.

I like the logos on the bottom too, but I have to screw around with the relative vs. absolute positioning of the various boxes to get that to work. The site was all absolute positioning when I started and I've since changed that to get the links on the left. Since I've spent a heck of a time on this I plopped them to the left side for now. But, if I can find some time, I'll get to work on those.

I think the darkest part of the header image. The darkest blue to me seems to be the predominant one that a persons eye wants to subconsciously have matching.

Yes, I understand. Not trying to make extra work for you here! :)

That's exactly what I did first. It seemed too dark for the headers, IMHO

All,
That's about all I can do for now. I'd still like to put the logos in the bottom center, but that's going to take more work than I have time right now. If anyone wants to tackle it, be my guest.
If not, I say we move it over to the main site and fix the other stuff later.
Check it out one more time. All in favor or not? If we get a majority, then I'll work on the main site and get it's front page and the look running like the test site.

Go Brad :-) Looks really good. I like the outline on the main text box, it played tricks with my eyes before when the color of the box and background slightly mismatched. I'll move the menu changes over to the main image so we get the arrows there too. Great job of tackling the absolute/relative layout. We should have a longterm goal to get the whole layout relative so text size changes works better. You got my approval to change the main site. Karl

I think it looked great. Now it becomes harder to look at the old www.squeak.org page. :-)
I'm glad that "powered by smallwiki" logo is replaced by quieter "powered by squeak" logo so it won't distract the reader and I also think that blue border outline also helps!
So, well done! If my vote counts at all, I'm in favor.

Of course it does. Well.. that's a majority here.
We do need to do something else, if someone wants to take it on. The "About" text that I removed probably needs to be integrated into the About page. I have the text from the front page, so if someone wants to take it on let me know.
I placed this action on the Action Items page so we won't forget it.
