Basically, It is not unlike ghandi, but we have more control and also CDN.
We could migrate the individual services to an own vm each (which should be manageable and also feasible).
You mean it would be easier to manage about ten servers than one?
Yes. Currently, we hat some issues where one service would drag down the whole box and just like that 4..5 services were gone. Remember when Box2 went away.
Would it be future-proof? I mean if we had to move again, and the new provider were not so generous with resources, we would have to "merge" the servers again, wouldn't we?

We continue to have to manage things like mailman.
We can, however, have DNS managed through rackspace, which would give us some advantages (especially regarding CDN).
With properly set up CDN, we can (Finally) have a fast files.squeak.org, and - with some effort - theoretically fast source.squeak.org mcz.
The reason why files.squeak.org is slow currently is that Gandi gives us limited bandwidth (I think it's 20-50Mb/s) and we don't use HTTP2.
And that gandi's servers and, for example, South American Squeak users tend to be geographically far away.
From the images we don't even use keep-alive, so things are really slow.
Also, the kernel is old, so it doesn't have TCP Fast Open.
Ok.
Most of the things are definitely possible until december.
