Hi,
this is the last one I compiled: http://squeakvm.org/mac/release/Squeak%204.2.5beta1U.zip
I'm not compiling anymore interpreter VMs, but this one should be enough :)

Hi all, Hi Esteban, Hi Eliot:
Is there somewhere a prebuilt binary of the standard interpreter?
I found the CogVM [1,2] and the StackVM [2], but the standard interpreter, built from current sources does not seem to be anywhere available.
The old VMs linked on the VM page [3] do unfortunately either not accept headless and a path to an image (the 5.7 series), or tell me that they do not read images of version 6505 (the 4.2 series).
In case there are more recent versions of the non-Cog, non-Stack VM prebuilt out there, would be great if someone could give me a pointer.
Thanks Stefan

Ok, thanks. That one does unfortunately not yet handle 6505 images.

There is 5.7.4.1 somewhere which I THINK it is the old vm but being able to run closure images.

but 4.2.5 should be compatible with current images... AFAIK... otherwise I need to compile yet one more :)

That is what I get:
$ /Users/smarr/Projects/OmniThesis/Squeak\ 4.2.5.app/Contents/MacOS/Squeak\ VM\ Opt -headless $PWD/pharo14.image ReBenchHarness SMarkCompiler 1 40 This interpreter (vers. 0) cannot read image file (vers. 6505). Press CR to quit...
I would like to use a 'stock' version, to avoid introducing errors by messing with it myself. So, for me it would be of great help if there would be a classic VM that supports recent images.
Best regards Stefan
Hi Esteban,
It would be very helpful if you can release an updated interpreter VM for OS X using the latest VMMaker and Subversion trunk sources. If there are any problems in VMMaker I will work with you to resolve them.
Thanks a lot! Dave

may be it would be the occasion to have a git version of this one. I think that this is a bit sad not to use the great work igor did not make sure anybody can compile a VM.

he, we have a git version of it... problem is that CMakeMaker for interpreter is completely outdated :) To compile an interpreter vm, I rather fix the maker than use the old way... but I need some spare time for both... I will do it, as soon as possible :)

Yes, there are all nicely linked at: http://squeakvm.org/mac/ However, John mentioned the last time I had a similar problem that nobody really cared about the command-line interface. And, well, it is not supported in those early Cocoa VMs.
Which makes it hard for me to set up a proper benchmark for comparison.
Thanks Stefan
