Hi,
I never used scribo but I assume if I log into the site as admin I could start an try to edit pages.
The security manager in the image still has the same old users as the Aida demo but the admin password changed (to what?).
I could pick the hash out of the image but I need the password.
Secondly I think the original purpose is to upgrade to a new Aida. How to start?
I could set up a trunk image, load a current Aida and then use the mcz i find in the package cache to try to set it up, but I even don't know the load order.
Any kind of guidance would be much appreciated. And I'd prefer not to use the current Aida but the one currently under development (Aida 6.5) which is already used for Aidaweb.si.
Cheers
Herbert
OK, I've sent you a Scribo password.
I'm not sure how to get this SqueakSite into 6.1. I'm not sure how Aida is supposed to work in Squeak 4.3. I think we'd need Janko to do that.
I'm in the SOB meeting so I may not respond as quickly.

Hi guys,
Sorry for being a bit late but because I'm just finishing one such migration of commercial Aida based app on VisualWorks for one customer, I refreshed the procedure a bit and this will come handy to our case too :)
In short, you make such upgrade in three steps:
1. prepare a newest Squeak image but with an Aida, Scribo etc. versions as in old image,
2. export data (right AIDASite instance with its whole object tree) from old image and import in a new one,
2. carefully upgrade the Aida etc code to the newest version.
What I don't know is how to export/import data in Squeak. With SIXX?
Best regards Janko

Thanks, looks like a plan.

I usually use image segments but never tried between versions of Squeak. I would try with a non Cog image and then convert the image to Cog by once running it on Cog.
I'll give it a try. See some code I use for fairly complex objects below.
...... Ok, writing did not work, it stumbled over an instance of WebGridColumn even after I stopped the Webserver. But it wrote 1.3 MB before it stopped.
I' ll continue by first garbage collecting until there are no more subInstances of WebElement in the image like I do with my images and then try again. That will be tomorrow 5:30 :-)), I have private business now.
Cheers,
Herbert

OK, so we need three things, I guess:
1. We need an Aida 6.1 that works in Squeak 4.3. 2. We need to export the code for the website and update it to Aida 6.1. Or we can get it from http://mc.bioskop.fr/SqueakSite/ 3. And then we need to export the data from the image and import it into the new image.
The first two I sort of understand. The last one is new me. I look at the image and say "How did the content get into those instances and how am I going to get it out?"
If an image segment or .obj file will not pass from a non-Cog image to a Cog image, then the only tool, I guess, is XML and using that Persister class, which I think uses SIXX. (Of which I know little.)
I'm thinking #1, making Aida work in Squeak 4.3, is only something Janko can do. The tests say Aida works fine, but that Swazoo has a bunch of failing tests.
#2 & #3 I'd say we can figure out together.
I'm really glad to have your assistance in this,
Chris
Hi,
Chris, I think I was confusing about the Aida versions.
Current Version is 6.4 and it runs well in trunk.
Also the Cog VM is not the problem. If we can get things running on a trunk image with normal VM we can just open that image once with a Cog VM and Cog will convert the image.
My status for now:
- I exported the objects from the old image (there are several defect objects dangling in the old image). No idea if I will get them into a trunk image. Right now UTF seems the main problem. - I got a 4.3 from the Website and updated it to trunk then installed Aida 6.4. This will be my base for all experiments.
I assume I have to install scribo then follow your Link and get the Squeak site code. Is this correct?
Janko, anything to be careful about installing scribo on Aida 6.4 or just follow instructions on aidaweb.si?
Cheers
Herbert

OK, I followed the Squeak instructions at http://www.aidaweb.si/download instead of just using ConfigurationOfAida and now 6.4 runs in my Squeak 4.3.

I'm glad to hear that.

Yea, Scribo and then the SqueakSite. The version of SqueakSite to get is #18. That's the one in production. I think #19 is untested.
http://mc.aidaweb.si/SqueakSite/
Loading Scribo seems to be a bit of a problem. When you load it, then the localhost:8888 demo site adds some links at the bottom of the page: blog, wiki, and, webpage. I've loaded Scribo from ConfigurationOfScribo as well as Scribo-jm.192.mcz thinking that either would be the latest version ( http://mc.aidaweb.si/Scribo/ ). It doesn't go so well from there. The error messages come ( ie. Halt. Halt. Halt. ) quickly.
Sounds like we're further ahead than we were yesterday.
1. Load Scribo successfully. 2. Load SqueakSite #18 in Aida 6.4 and tweak to update. 3. Load in the data extracted from the production image.
Thanks, Chris
