You are a list administrator for the squeak-dev list and so as part of those duties you will be sent notifications of messages awaiting approval. For the last week or so I've been getting notifications that your mail system is refusing these notices. Please allow messages from squeak-dev-owner@lists.squeakfoundation.org .
Ken Causey
P.S. Can anyone tell me why in the last week notices of issues with the squeak-dev mailing list have started being sent to the box-admins list? (You haven't been seeing them because I haven't been approving them.) Did someone change that on purpose? I don't think that's a good idea since for spam reasons the list does not automatically allow all messages through and so notices of this sort will only be seen by me initially and I'm not in a position to do anything about squeak-dev issues of this sort.
I haven't yet heard from anyone regarding this issue. I got an undeliverable notice back from evand@nedcor.com's server:
evand@nedcor.com on Fri, 5 May 2006 22:41:17 +0200 The recipient name is not recognized The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=za;a=telkom400;p=nedcor;l=ARES3060505204122DRM8W5 MSEXCH:IMS:Nedcor:Internet Gateway:ARES3 0 (000C05A6) Unknown Recipient
So does this mean he can be removed from the list of admins for squeak-dev now? Who is this by the way?
Also, I'm still wondering what changed causing notices to be sent to box-admins@lists.squeakfoundation.org. Someone must have changed something. Anyone?

I think yes.
Who is this by the way?
no idea

I didn't change anything...

Not sure where Evan's gone.
Long ago Cees called for assistance approving email from non-subscribers to squeak-dev and Evan signed up then, same time I did, but I don't remember ever receiving an email from him, so I'm not sure when the address went bad. I do know that someone besides me approves email from non-subscribers. Maybe Cees, maybe Evan.
A different approach would be to change the password for admin access to the squeak-dev list, broadcast it to the admin addresses, and see who, if anyone, squawks about the change.
Regards, Steve

Probably Evan. Because I sure ain't it :-)

Yup. Or dig around - I found a .org site this morning bearing his name via Squeak People
I'm glad to finally have received a reply from each of you regarding this issue. But in our usual fashion each of us said something, but as far as I can tell no one did anything.
Can we move forward with the password change and broadcast plan? (Note that because of the current situation I will almost certainly get a copy of the password since I will likely get a bounceback from Evan; you might want to keep that in mind.)

Is there anything I need to do? It looks like it should be the decicion of the manager of the squeak-dev list to remove the boundcing adress and decide if a change in the passwd is needed or not...
Marcus
I agree. I just Cc'ed you since you are the overall mailing list administrator and I felt you should be aware of the progress on this issue. Also in the end if nothing happens I might have to get you to do something after all. But I'm sure Cees or Steve will respond in time.
Thanks,
Ken

I believe that only Cees has the power to make the change you want. In any case, I don't.
