Hi Frank, thanks for the offer! So far things appear to be working directly.
cheers Eliot

It's pretty strange. I can't connect directly from germany, but via this proxy service (which should be located in the us):
(enter www.squeakvm.org http://www.squeakvm.org in the input field at the bottom)
Something to try would be to find a (public) proxy that can make a connection to www.squeakvm.org http://www.squeakvm.org and use that until this strange thing is resolved.

Works for me:
ping -c 4 www.squeakvm.org http://www.squeakvm.org PING www.squeakvm.org http://www.squeakvm.org (67.213.223.125): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 67.213.223.125 http://67.213.223.125: icmp_seq=0 ttl=49 time=121.784 ms 64 bytes from 67.213.223.125 http://67.213.223.125: icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=125.366 ms 64 bytes from 67.213.223.125 http://67.213.223.125: icmp_seq=2 ttl=49 time=125.636 ms 64 bytes from 67.213.223.125 http://67.213.223.125: icmp_seq=3 ttl=49 time=125.214 ms
Odd that it's reachable from South America but not North America. :-)
It's reachable from the UK, too.
What kind of proxy is needed? Would just a shell account work?
Er, more clearly: Eliot, if it's useful, I can set up a shell on my box through which you could access www.squeakvm.org. All I'd need is an SSH public key.
