Stefan,
There is a Darwin/MacOSX version of the standard unix VM here:
I don't know if this would serve your purposes, but it is more up to date than the Mac and Windows VMs, and would certainly support all of the 32 bit image formats as well as providing the usual unix command line options.

Hi all, Hi Esteban, Hi Eliot:
Is there somewhere a prebuilt binary of the standard interpreter?
I found the CogVM [1,2] and the StackVM [2], but the standard interpreter, built from current sources does not seem to be anywhere available.
The old VMs linked on the VM page [3] do unfortunately either not accept headless and a path to an image (the 5.7 series), or tell me that they do not read images of version 6505 (the 4.2 series).
In case there are more recent versions of the non-Cog, non-Stack VM prebuilt out there, would be great if someone could give me a pointer.
Thanks Stefan
