Hi all!
I think we need something more informative, say primitiveAvailableBytecodeSets which answers an Array of the names of the bytecode sets in the VM, answering a one element array if there is only one set.
+1

??? Hi Eliot,
I put VMMaker.oscog-dtl.2711.mcz in the VMMaker inbox a while ago:

Forgive me for missing this. I???ll take a look soon.
Does this still seem like a good idea to you? If yes, do you want me to merge it into VMMaker.oscog? Squeak trunk is already calling the (not yet existing) primitive when Sista is activated, so if we provide the VM support, then the image format number will be updated. This is likely to cause some confusion in trunk, but we are early in the release cycle, so it's still a good time to get it done.
I don???t object to a sista bit in the image header. I find primitiveMultipleBytecodesActive uncompelling. I think we need something more informative, say primitiveAvailableBytecodeSets which answers an Array of the names of the bytecode sets in the VM, answering a one element array if there is only one set.
But I???ll take a look soon.
Thanks. Please treat my inbox submission as a discussion opener. We are early in the Squeak release cycle so updating trunk to match is not a problem.
