Conférences Smalltalk à Libr'East of Paris

Bonjour à tous, je vais faire deux présentations de Smalltalk et Squeak lors de la conférences Libr'East qui à lieu à Paris du 23 au 25 avril 2004. Voir le programme ici : http://idile.org/libreast/ Voici le résumé de mes deux présentations : ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------- Squeak, un Smalltalk open-source multi-média - Serge Stinckwich Dimanche 25 : 9h30-10h25; Salle TD Squeak est un langage open-source et orienté-objet, dérivé de Smalltalk. Squeak a été développé par Alan Kay et son équipe chez Apple, Disney, puis maintenant HP. Squeak est fortement orienté multimédia : lecteurs de wav, mp3, flash, support midi, synthèse sonore et vocale, API 2D et 3D, reconnaissance de caractères, ... mais également réseau : serveur et navigateur web, support XML, lecteur mail, ... Du fait de sa grande portabilité, Squeak est disponible sur : Linux, *BSD, Mac OS X, Be, Amiga, win32 mais également sur les pda (PocketPC ou Linux comme Sharp/Zaurus). Le conférencier fera une démonstration des différentes possibilités multi-média de Squeak et notamment de ses possibilités éducatives qui permettent à des enfants d'interagir avec des objets : EToys. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------- Introduction à la programmation en Smalltalk - Serge Stinckwich Dimanche 25 : 10h35-11h30; Salle TD Smalltalk est l'ancêtre des langages à objets, développé à l'origine par Alan Kay, véritable inventeur de l'informatique moderne (système multi-fenêtré, bitmap, programmation objet, dynabook, ...) au Xerox Parc. Ses fonctionnalités et son environnement de développement sont toujours inégalés et ont été fréquemment copiés : l'environnement de développement Eclipse a été réalisé par des anciens Smalltakiens par exemple. Le conférencier fera une présentation de la syntaxe de Smalltalk (on dit généralement que la syntaxe tient sur une carte postale) et des différents outils de développements : browser de classes, chercheur de méthode, créer du code à plusieurs, etc. La présentation sera illustrée par des exemples issus du Smalltalk open-source Squeak (voir l'autre conférence). Salut je tiens juste a vous dire que la date limite pour les articles de recherches (avec publications dans un journal a la clef) se rapproche...donc j'espere que vous allez soumettre d'excellent papiers avant le 21 mai. A vous editeur de texte PS: ESUG cherche aussi des presentations de produits, des presentations de projects menes a bien avec smalltalk. www.esug.org est en reconstruction mais les informations importantes sont la stef

squeak m'intéresse vivement pour developpement web quelques questions : ou trouver site développés avec squeak avec méthode pour eviter plug-in cookies ? ou heberger site squeak en mutualisé in france ? y a t il des fans de squeak dans la region de nantes pour contacts reels ? merci bonne journée à toutes et tous gildas

Helping VWNC

Hi Apparently some high-level managers at cincom are questioning about the interest of having the non-commercial version of VisualWorks. Apparently the idea of a time-bombed version is circulating. I think that we can help VWNC if we would simply fill this form http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/scripts/SurveyMain.ssp I filled it and stated that having a trial version limited in time would be an step backward and that eventually I would migrate to other smalltalks Smalltalk/X and Squeak are great and Smalltalk/X deserves more attention. I really think that one of the aspect of the survival of VisualWorks is linked to the existence of the NC version. I do not think that ezboard would exist today if they could not have build a working prototype. I know friends developping in VW in the worse time of Objectshare that were desesperate and I remember the idea of buying the stock option of Objectshare. The VisualWorks engineering team is working in the right direction and a strong VisualWorks is important for the ***entire*** Smalltalk community, so do not think that you are not concerned because you use Squeak or another Smalltalk! [ANN] Nouveau site web ESUG

Hi, Grâce aux efforts de nombreux volontaires, nous avons le plaisr de vous annoncer que le site web ESUG (tout en Smalltalk, sur la base de SmallWiki) est disponible sur l'URL habituelle http://www.esug.org avec une interface cool. Vous y trouverez des infos à jour sur l'édition 2004 de la manifestation ESUG qui inclu : -Le programme technique habituel, -Une session recherche (avec publi en journal) -Une journée "business" -la première édition du concours "Technology Awards" et encore d'autres choses intéressantes: session Squeak, soirée dédiée à l'enseignement de physique (à l'aide de Smalltalk biensûr), une session pour débutants (tutoriels intro à Smalltalk), ... Any volunteer help would be welcome. Meanwhile we are working on reviving SqueakNews which we estimate will be fully up and running by October 2004.
