I just wanted to try to compact it for my slow connection. Next
time it will be with *.exe

+1. The Etoys4 installer shows the same text (I think someone
said it is the correct behavior) and I haven't touched it. I will
change.

I think I haven't change INI writing code from Etoys4 installer...
It would be helpful if someone could test Etoys4 installer on the
same test box.

Anderas, did you test it on Win7 x64 instead of x86?
I believe win32 installer hasn't been officially tested on x64
platform yet.
though I tested it on Win7 x86. ( I don't have x64 capable box)
Because of resource constraint I just removed win7 VM recently :-<
I need time to rebuild it.
To narrow down the problem it would be helpful if someone could confirm
the problem on win7 x86.

OK, I will fix it in next snapshot.

Here is my list of candidates for inclusion in 4.1:
SQ-778 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-778> Copying objects between
projects copies a Sketch and not the
object<http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-778>
SQ-779 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-779> If I drop an object in
the Supplies Bin, it disappears when I switch
projects.<http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-779>
SQ-732 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-732>Make "usePopUpArrows"
preference default value "true" to make it easier to click on Arrows in
scripting tiles <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-732>
Without SQ-778 or SQ-779 I have no easily discoverable way to package up and
re-use objects (or sets of objects) in another project other than rebuilding
from scratch. I do not always want to re-mix an existing project as I may
not realize until after I have already done considerable work that I want to
use something from a different project. The way you can get around this is
to build your own Quick Guides (nice feature), but then you need to be able
to save them in the Quick Guides folder for your language. Which on a Mac
requires you know enough to open the Etoys "package" and I am not sure how
or if you can easily do this on an XO.
Really Nice if simple quick safe fixes:
SQ-547 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-547> When "Publishing a
Project" the focus should be in
Username<http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-547>
SQ-651 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-651>
Default font for connector label is too
small<http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-651>
*IMO*: Fixing this makes it a better candidate for replacing PowerPoint in
the classroom
SQ-652 <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-652>
Connector label position <http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-652>

Call for Papers
Ninth International Conference on
Creating, Connecting and Collaborating through Computing
(C5 2011)
18-20 January 2011
Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan
http://www.cm.is.ritsumei.ac.jp/c5-11/
Computers, networks, and other forms of technology are pervasive in our
information-based society. Unfortunately, most users of this technology use it
for passive consumption of information and entertainment. To evolve into a
true knowledge society it is critical that we transform computer-based human
activities to engage users in the active process of creating, connecting, and
collaborating together.
The C5 conference is for anyone interested in the use of computers as tools to
develop and enable user-oriented creation, connection, and collaboration
processes. Researchers, developers, educators and users come together at C5 to
present new and ongoing work and to discuss future directions for creative
computing and multimedia environments. We welcome the submission of
theoretical and technical papers, practitioner/experience reports, and papers
that bridge the gap between theory and practice or that encourage inter- and
cross-disciplinary study.
=== Submissions ===
C5 invites submissions of full papers in (but not limited to) the following
areas:
* Technology-enhanced human-computer and human-human interaction
* Multimedia authoring environments
* New technologies for literature, music and the visual arts
* Virtual worlds and immersive environments
* Gaming/entertainment platforms and infrastructure
* Social networks and social networking
* Novel programming paradigms and languages for implementors
* Scripting or visual paradigms and languages for end-users
* Creating and maintaining online communities
* Tools for creating/managing online services/environments
* Distributed and collaborative working
* Educational environments for classroom, field work and online/distance
learning
* Technologies for collaborative and self-empowered learning
* Social and cultural implications of new technologies
Papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format via EasyChair at:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=c511
Submissions must be written in English (the official language of the
conference) and must not exceed eight (8) pages. They should use the IEEE
10-point two-column format, templates for which are available at:
http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/home
=== Proceedings ===
A preliminary version of the proceedings will be distributed during the
conference. The formal version of the proceedings will be published by the
Conference Publishing Services (CPS) and sent to authors after the conference.
For each accepted paper, at least one of the authors needs to attend the
conference and deliver the presentation; otherwise the paper will not be
included in the formal proceedings.
=== Dates ===
Submission of papers: October 8, 2010
Author notification: November 19, 2010
Camera-ready copy: December 19, 2010
Conference: January 18-20, 2011
