Hi, I'm configuring the dev image to fit my taste and I think some of the fonts are too big. With this code snippet etoys looks way better IMHO:
font := (TTCFont family: 'Bitstream Vera Sans' size: 12). Preferences setSystemFontTo: font; setListFontTo: font; setCodeFontTo: font.
This change will not affect etoys users (I think) because it only changes what we developers always use. So I think it could be a good addition to the dev image. If you happen to think the same I would be happy to upload it to the inbox. The only thing is: I don't know how to do it :P.
Another question: how can I change the default directory to always use the directory where the image file is located?
Thanks! Richo
Ok, I found the answer to my question about the default directory. Changing the preference #startInUntrustedDirectory seemed to work. :)

I find that way to small to be usable:

Well, it's okay. I guess it's a matter of taste (or display resolution) :)

Oh, yes I resized the window. And I don't use the "Scale to fit" option. But I thought that, except from XO users, almost everyone did this.

Maybe you resized the window?
The window size (800x600) and resolution (1200x900) is set up to roughly match the OLPC XO's screen.

Well, indeed many developers tend to do this. This leads to them never noticing the problems that crop up only when you actually use Etoys as our users do. So IMHO at least the defaults for the dev image should be as close to the user image as possible.
E.g., have you tried changing a preference in the default image? The layout is wrong, and the individual options are impossibly small. But since before now the developer image used different fonts and scaling than the user image, this never got fixed.
I think it would be best to make the out-of-box experience as usable as possible, both for developers and users.

Well, that's reasonable. Thanks for the explanation. Regarding the preferences, it may be a good time to update the preference browser, don't you think?

Sure, go right ahead ;)
We might want to bring over the preferences stuff from trunk. E.g., right now MCConfiguration's logToFile new-style preference isn't found by our old browser.

I knew you were going to say that! :) Ok, once I finish the stuff for GsoC I'll give it a shot.
