Takashi,
does that affect Etoys DnD?

I attached a couple of patches.
One add support for XdndDirectSave to mozilla. It needs love but it should be reasonably ready for Trial-3.
The other make the Sugar clipboard support XdndDirectSave. It's mostly an hack to test out stuff. The tricky bit is that XdndDirectSave is async (well, it's unclear from the spec but all the implementations I checked seem to be async) but there is no notification of when the file copy is completed. Also the sugar Clipboard always does a copy in the on disk case which is not optimal here.
I'm not sure why doing a copy in the Clipboard is necessary for downloads, I'll have to look into it.

Bert,
That's interesting. I didn't know about XdndDirectSave. According to a documentation http://www.newplanetsoftware.com/xds/, if it is implemented correctly, It shouldn't cause any bad effect to unsupported application.
Cheers, - Takashi
