Hi Anybody know the license to this project ?
http://languagegame.org:8888/zoo/241
I would like to work on a better paint system for Squeak / Etoys and this is a nice starting point.
Karl
It will be great. What about the Scratch one?
Oh, this remind me I have to update the DrGeo code base in Etoys, and write a section in the collaborative book

The Scratch paint tool is nice but have much the same limits the one in Etoys/Squeak has. It's also quite tied into the Scratch widgets, and it seems hard to extend with other tools and new features.

I talked with Thoru Yamamoto about the license. Unfortunately he doesn't want his code become a part of other software. Because he think it's quick-and-dirty and some codes have unknown origin.

We could perhaps still talk him into clarifying the license terms of the artwork. The code may not be so good, but hopefully somebody would be motivated to rewrite the code if there is a professionally designed artwork.

Yes, I will probably rewrite much of the code. The artwork is quite nice and I would like to not redo that. I mostly use SpookyPaint starting point to making a painting tool. And the code is not that bad :-) I would rather like to start by modifying and enhancing code than start from scratch :-)

Well, if it really contains "some code with unknown origin", it probably is a better idea to from more or less start scratch. (At least big enough change to be able to claim it is new code...)

Hi Karl, Spooky paint system is a nice starting point and adds a number of useful features, eg scaling inside of the paint tool and the round and square nibs. I have been wishing for a round eraser and for the erasers to be offset just a little more so one can see where the tip is. Have you seen http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter
This may be more intuitive for middle schoolers.

Thanks, nice link. Quite simple and easy interface.
One thing I missed in Etoys is the detail work that Spooky Paint can do with the zoom canvas. I work on reimplementing much of what Spooky Paint has and will make a license clean version as time permits.
