Etoys4-RC4 is shortly going to be up on
http://squeakland.org/download/
Please test thoroughly, we will release this as is unless a really critical issue is found this week!
Known Issues (to be included in Release Notes)
* Uploading a project from Etoys to Squeakland does not work if you are behind a proxy. Please use a Web Browser to upload projects in this case. * If you encounter issues in the Web Browser Plugin, try clicking the Full Screen button in the Etoys tool bar. This can fix animation sluggishness, as well as wrong key or button mappings. * Macintosh: On Snow Leopard, the Web Browser Plugin works unreliable in Safari. We recommend to use Firefox in the mean time.
Changelog since first release candidate:
4.0.2334 (13 Oct 2009) * fourth release candidate * fix a problem uploading to SuperSwiki * fix malformed uri in project manifest
4.0.2332 (6 Oct 2009) * third release candidate * updated translations: fr, ja * store reference to previous project when a project is re-uploaded * smaller font size for textual scripts * fix translating of value types and function tiles * fix bearing-to and distance-to in Test pane
4.0.2325 (29 Sep 2009) * second release candidate * updated translations: de, es, fr, ko, mn * updated example projects * attempt to fix the erratic "project can't be saved because of blocks" warning * fix missing languages on the Mac when launched by double-clicking a project * fix lost formatting when copying and pasting text on the Mac * show "Haitian Creole" instead of "ht" in language menu * supply parentheses around 'bearing to' and 'distance to' so expressions can be extended * prevent tool bar from accidental deletion * Mac VM updated to 4.2.2b1: built under 10.6, fix memory leaks, scrolling, serial ports
- Bert -
sigh, the latest POT (including function tile like "random") has not been merged to pootle yet and we will have missing translations...(degraded from sqL2005)
Will we have bug fix release to update translations, or do we need to wait for next year's release cycle?

Sigh. Sayamindu said the merge would happen within two days automatically, and I committed the POT last week, so it should have been updated by now.
Anyway, in this case a bug fix release would be warranted I'd say. Or do we feel safe to include the updated translation in final if we get it this week?

Arggh! Thanks for bringing this to my notice. It looks like an OS upgrade for the server which hosts Pootle have got rid of all the customizations that we had. I'm fixing this by tonight (and I'm shutting down Pootle for the next few hours, as we had quite a few crucial patches to the PO parser which took care of certain oddities in the various PO files that we have).
Thanks, Sayamindu

A bad translation can break things. If JIRA hadn't crashed again I might find an example ticket.
If we just add a phrase and change nothing else it should be fairly safe. But there are people more familiar with the code in question than me so I thought it prudent to ask their advice.

You need to allocate enough time and annouce plan to people. Things go like this:
1) POT merged to pootle <---- We are here now 2) People notice strings available for translation 3) People enter translations and commit them when they have time 4) You do build 5) Test 6) Release
Usually 2)-3) takes >1week because of community based nature. When is due date for 3) if you stick to final release of Oct21?

So our POT was committed last week? Did this contain fixes on the first few RCs?

Etoys4-RC4 is shortly going to be up on
http://squeakland.org/download/
Please test thoroughly, we will release this as is unless a really critical issue is found this week!
Known Issues (to be included in Release Notes)
- Uploading a project from Etoys to Squeakland does not work if
you are behind a proxy. Please use a Web Browser to upload projects in this case.
- If you encounter issues in the Web Browser Plugin, try clicking
the Full Screen button in the Etoys tool bar. This can fix animation sluggishness, as well as wrong key or button mappings.
- Macintosh: On Snow Leopard, the Web Browser Plugin works
unreliable in Safari. We recommend to use Firefox in the mean time.
Changelog since first release candidate:
4.0.2334 (13 Oct 2009)
- fourth release candidate
- fix a problem uploading to SuperSwiki
- fix malformed uri in project manifest
4.0.2332 (6 Oct 2009)
- third release candidate
- updated translations: fr, ja
- store reference to previous project when a project is re-uploaded
- smaller font size for textual scripts
- fix translating of value types and function tiles
- fix bearing-to and distance-to in Test pane
4.0.2325 (29 Sep 2009)
- second release candidate
- updated translations: de, es, fr, ko, mn
- updated example projects
- attempt to fix the erratic "project can't be saved because of
blocks" warning
- fix missing languages on the Mac when launched by double-
clicking a project
- fix lost formatting when copying and pasting text on the Mac
- show "Haitian Creole" instead of "ht" in language menu
- supply parentheses around 'bearing to' and 'distance to' so
expressions can be extended
- prevent tool bar from accidental deletion
- Mac VM updated to 4.2.2b1: built under 10.6, fix memory leaks,
scrolling, serial ports

I've tied the commit messages system to a service that will sms me when a new commit happens. Hopefully that will make things better. -sdg-

We are back to normal now. The PO files should be up to date as well. -sdg-

Sigh. Sayamindu said the merge would happen within two days automatically, and I committed the POT last week, so it should have been updated by now.
Anyway, in this case a bug fix release would be warranted I'd say. Or do we feel safe to include the updated translation in final if we get it this week?

sigh, the latest POT (including function tile like "random") has not been merged to pootle yet and we will have missing translations...(degraded from sqL2005)
Will we have bug fix release to update translations, or do we need to wait for next year's release cycle?
