- Display: The new dual-mode panels—with double the reflectance—were
hand-carried back by Mary Lou were installed successfully into the motherboard-daughter card test-sets at OLPC. With work by Jim Gettys and Walter Bender, preliminary optimal font size tests were started. A 9-point font (25 pixels) seems ideal for readability as a guideline for development.
Looks like we pretty much came up with the same estimate. We use Accujen18 which is 22 pixels high plus 2 pixels of leading.
We might still want to look around for other free large bitmap fonts. In color mode on the actual display, the difference between a bitmap font and an antialiased font is negligible. We want to use bitmap fonts for speed.
