Hi
in between painting and renovating my new house I'm working on the botsinc environment for the ODLP. I got a project working. I removed all the behavior related to file and other aspects. Can someone have a look at tell me what I should improve? What is the process to get a project included in the project list?
Are there guidelines about what I should pay attention to?

I started the project from a USB stick, that worked fine. Took about 45 seconds to load on a B4.
The major problem is that after saving to the journal, it cannot be loaded again because the classes are missing. Apparently they were not saved in the project again. If you find the time it would be helpful to install an XO emulator so you can test under Sugar yourself.
The default pen width is only one pixel which is too thin for the XO display. Also, some fonts are too small, that may be fixed when we change the default fonts as in
https://dev.laptop.org/ticket/3546
What is the process to get a project included in the project list?
There is no formal process yet.

Well it needs to work under Sugar and on the XO, and hopefully should be self-documenting. Adding some introduction in a help flap would be good I think. And we need to think about translating.

Oops

Strange, do you mean that I forgot to add to the changeset some classes. This is strange since I just attached the cs to one (may be the class missing is a squeak class.)

Sure I would love to. Where can I find Sugar? and XO emulator? Thanks for your kindness. I have nearly finish to renovate one room and we are all sleeping in a large one.

Ok I will fix that.

See http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Emulation
I think the latest OS image might just work - download it from
http://olpc.download.redhat.com/olpc/streams/development/
(get the one ending in _ext3.img.bz2 )

Hi bert
I took Q-0.8.1a35.dmg olpc-redhat-stream-development-build-542-20070801_0412- devel_ext3.img.bz2
followed the steps described here: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Emulating_the_XO/Quick_Start/Mac
I ended up with a login screen and I do not know how to log and how I could then start and load the botsinc project.
Stef
I succeeded to arrive to the etoy page :) But I do not know how to load a project that is not already included.
BTW I got a DNU when I clicked on the [projects in journal]

Press Alt-Shift-W to get at the World menu ... then you can use a file list for example.
If networking works, then you can click a .pr file in the web browser on any web page. Actually, that should work for local files too (file:///tmp/myfile.pr).
But please use a more recent build, I would try the very latest (603 as of today).

Hi bert (and others)
I tried 605 but apparently there is something broken with the X connection. I continuously got the shell telling me that the x-auth connection is lost. I used olpc-redhat-stream-development-build-605-20070925_0025- devel_ext3.img
I tried with the latest stable version of Q and also 603, There I could get up to the login and change color page but no more.
So I retried with 542 to make sure this was not something with my machine and it worked.

I just tried build 602 which I had on my disk in Q. Worked fine - after the color chooser you have to wait a minute or so until the Sugar UI comes up (even though I have a very fast machine), but it worked. I think this should be the same in 603. There were some more changes in 605 ...
Once you have it running you can press Alt-0 to get a developer console (takes a minute again).
In that console, type "su -" to get a root shell.
In there, type "dhclient eth0" to get an ip address so you can use the network.
To fix the font size in emulation you can do this:

mat is trying to help me. He tried Q with 603 and apparently we cannot get further than the logging: after we get always to a balck screen and restart endlessly. We cannot get to have etoy or ODLP running.

Perhaps your Qemu settings are different? Did you follow the instructions on the wiki? I'm attaching my VM settings ... maybe that helps.
Also, what the heck does "ODLP" stand for?

Hi
Do you have any idea how I could load a pr? Dropping on the Q app or ODLP does not work.
I tried to create a dmg and say to qemu to take that dmg as a cd but it did not work
I tried to see if I could mount a disc but I could not find it.

Easiest is per network between qemu and the host:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Emulating_the_XO/ Help_and_tips#Communicating_between_host_and_xo_image
I use scp to move files to/from the emulated machine.
