Hi, Bert,
I have a problem when I publish etoys activity files. I'm working as http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Etoys_RPM_and_XO_bundle.
In sugar-jhbuild/source/etoys/ directory, After I set up every files, edited .git/config, and tried to commit my local files. But I got an error. Is the URL git+ssh://dev.laptop.org/git/projects/etoys correct?
takashi@localhost:~/src/.../etoys/.git% git push updating 'refs/heads/master' from ea7b96dde4486feab6a950bebf596755ed70a77a to 0d64804a446a97a8956be9ab2944be6999d79aa3 Generating pack... Please try again - I fixed some permissions on the git repository.

Thank you, Bert.
It worked fine! http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/2734
Anyway, do you really think we need to upload files to tinlizzie.org? It took huuuge hours to set up local svn repository. And I don't see any reason to use subversion because rpm files have version number themselves.
Cheers, - Takashi

I think we do not need to upload to tinlizzie anymore - it's just that this was the original location so I kept doing it (and I had a local version of the repo).
You could update the script to scp to dev.laptop.org directly (or I could do it once I'm back).

What if OLPC Etoys had more than just one main Toolbar. You could make the toolbar slimmer (like shown in http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Human_Interface_Guidelines/The_Sugar_Interfac... ), and make extra toolbars. These extra toolbars would basically be containers of objects, categorized the same way as in the objects catalog.
I would imagine that an Edit toolbar would be usefull right after Activity (right now there is no visual option to copy+paste, and Undo would be placed there), but after that, there would be a Basic, Connectors, Scripting, Graphics, Games, and a Multimedia Toolbar. Perhaps the Basic category would contain the other common objects that exist right now in the Main Toolbox.
I think that having objects placed this way, ready to be taken out and be used in projects would make etoys easier to use and discover. Right now, you have to open the Top toolbox, drag the Object catalog to the workspace, click the category, and choose the object. With this method, you would click the category, then choose the object.
See http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Write and http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Human_Interface_Guidelines/The_Sugar_Interfac... for an example of how an activity with toolbar tabs looks like.
What do you think of this idea?
