If you have an XO, please help test Etoys in build "8.2-754". Upgrading should be as simple as typing this in a root terminal:
olpc-update -fr 8.2-754
This will download the build, install it, reboot, automatically launch the Sugar software update panel, and load activity updates (including Etoys-87).
The build fixes all known major bugs (including the gribblies under the mouse pointer).
We're interested in any oddities, this will become the major OLPC release for this year. Please report your findings here or on the bug tracker.
Thanks!

I have a question - how does this version relate to joyride-2301? This version is not listed here as update
The reason I am asking - I did run the update, and the resulting system has multiple weird Sugar problems (for example terminal does not even start) that joyride-2301 does not have. I am in process of running the update to 8.2-754 again, in case there are still Sugar problems I'd like to make sure it is the latest in line for release,
Thanks Milan

8.2 is copied from Joyride but has some adjustments to hopefully make it more stable - like disabling xshm so the mouse pointer gribblies go away in Etoys. You could as well test in Joyride, the Etoys version is the same at the moment. When we release a new Etoys it will first pop up in Joyride and later in 8.2.
Here are the latest differences in package versions between Joyride and 8.2:
http://dev.laptop.org/~bert/8.2-joyride.html
At the time of my writing there are no differences, apparently joyride-2330 was copied to 8.2-756.
I should properly have written "please test in 754 or later or latest joyride" ...
Thanks!

ah, sorry i ment:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Olpc-update#Before_you_begin
it only lists links to joyride and stable versions, it does not even mention any of the 8.2-7xy family versions. It is confusing how the various olpc dev versions, candidates, releases relate, where to find them, and what is best to test. Thanks for the link with diffs between them...
I have re-downloaded 8.2-754, it still has Sugar issues I do not see in joyride-2301, but eToys 15 minute test did not uncover any problems (refresh or otherwise). As a note, /usr/bin/etoys still has xshm enabled, does that mean it is disable on lower level?
Anyway I will update to 8.2-756 and do some more eToys testing. Will report issues if any.

8.2 is going to be the next stable release, but it's still a few weeks out:

It was disabled in the X server.
Anyway I will update to 8.2-756 and do some more eToys testing. Will report issues if any.
Great!

well, not sure this is expected, but in 8.2-756, the etoys refresh "problem" is back. Should the bug be updated on trac?
yes.
