Designing proportional layout with the mouse

I'm trying to design a Morphic layout using a minimum of code. I see that you can set the layout policy of a morph from the Yellow button menu. Unfortunately, I don't know how to add a sub morph using that policy. Currently I'm positioning one morph on top of another and evaluate this code: parent layoutPolicy: ProportionalLayout new. parent addMorph: chld fullFrame: ( LayoutFrame fractions: ( (chld topLeft - parent topLeft / parent extent) corner: (chld bottomRight - parent topLeft / parent extent) ) ) While that works I'd like to do this the eToy like way if possible. A do with ONLY index? (plus,. a style question)

In a Sequencable collection, doWithIndex seems to just call withIndexDo. Is there a "do" that passes just the index, not the object? My son is working on a roguelike, and we're looking at various ways of creating the map. This is a two-dimensional map that would fit in a character-mode, and we have this so far: | map xBound yBound | xBound := 80. yBound := 24. map := Array new: xBound. i := 1. [i <= xBound] whileTrue: [ map at:i put: (Array new:yBound). i := i + 1 ]. map do: [ :col| col withIndexDo: [:obj :y| col at:y put:#stone. ] ]. This seems to lack elegance. Better would be: map := 2DArray new: 80@25. map doXY: [:xy| map atXY:xy put:#stone]. Or even: grid := Grid new: 80@25 fill: #stone. Marcus has his 2DArray but it's peppered with caveats. Loading SSL

Hi I've been trying to load the Cryptography group's SSL implementation into my image but can't seem to figure it out how. The posts I have found about this (from Ron) talk about loading Cryptography-Configuration.mcm and then Crypt-Xtra-Config.mcm from www.squeaksource.com/Cryptography (I think) but I don't see those files there. I connected Monticello to the repository but nothing there either. Am I missing something or do I have to do something else to get this loaded? How about instructions on how to configure the server? Another newbie Morphic question

Hi All, I'll be perfectly frank: I'm making a simulation of Robotic Rubber Duckies in a swimming pool. Ideally, I'd like to import an image file and have my "duckMorph" wear that image as a suit. I have created a sketchMorph, but I don't know how to programmatically instruct a morph to look like that sketch. I'm not sure I understand the differences between sketchMorph and imageMorph. I also am unsure whether I need to use an image file read/writer, like PNGReadWriter in order to do this. In short, I don't know where to begin. I'm still in the very early stages of this. At the moment all I want to do is create a morph and tell it to wear my duck-suit :) and then I'm going to work that code into a proper duckMorph class with the appropriate methods to simulate the actual robotic versions. anObject select: #aMethodName -- is this good Squeak?

I was browsing some of the Magritte source code, when I saw a message that confused me: selectors := anObject class allSelectors select: #isDescriptionSelector. I couldn't understand how you could pass a Symbol to #select: instead of a block -- certainly the definition of Collection>>select: implies it should only take a block. But trying it for myself, I see it works -- eg { 1. 2. 3. 4. } select: #even. can be used in place of: { 1. 2. 3. 4. } select: [ :each | each even ] Given how much simpler this looks, I was surprised I'd not seen this usage before, and searching for senders of #select: shows that the wordier version seems to be generally preferred. So my question is: is this a usage I should adopt or avoid? Cheers, Michael

MVC freezes

Open MVC project, and click into it. Open Workspace, and enter and select a line of code. How do I _do it_? Center button does not work, and ctl-click locks up Squeak. I have a three-button wheel mouse on a generic PC. 3- button mouse mapping is enabled. Morphic question

Hi list, I have a question concerning morphic in Squeak 3.9... I'm trying hard to understand morphic, but it's not easy... I want to display a SystemWindow in the current world, it should be placed starting at the top left corner going to the top right corner, so it should take the whole width of the world. How can I achieve that? I tried to use SystemWindow>>#position: or SystemWindow>>#bounds, I tried all sort of parameters, but the window doesn't react on these parameters... I set them before I open the window in world using #openInWorld. So how can I let a window open in the top left corner and taking the whole availabe width of the world? Or how can I move a window programmatically as soon as it's opened? Any hint is greatly appreciated, thanks. btw, is there a good documentation about current Morphic in Squeak 3.8/3.9? I couldn't find any. David

Tweak questions (was: Antialiased Morphs?)
