Is there a tandard way to attach context menus

Hello all, is there a standard way to attach a context menu to a morph? It's fairly easy to do by checking for yellowButtonPressed and manually firing up a MenuMorph. But it is sufficient to implement #addCustomMenuItems:hand: to get an enhanced Halo menu while #addYellowButtonMenuItemsTo:event: and #hasYellowButtonMenu don't help. Omnibrowser help

Are there some tips/documentation somewhere on getting the most out of the OmniBrowser? The MulitpleSelection browser looks interesting (sort of like the tabbed browser in VisualWorks), but I don't quite understand its behaviour and what method it decides to show in which pane when you move around or save changes. On the same topic, can anyone point me toward how I could add a new item to the class context menu in the OmniBrowser? I want to add a new template selection menu item (like "new class template" and "new trait template") because I have created a method that creates TWO classes at the same time for an Aida application (A domain model class AND its associated WebApp class). MonticelloBrowser question

Hello, could anybody help me to understand, how to use MonticelloBrowser? (Working with 3.9 #7067) I read SBE and it says: " The right-hand pane lists all of the source-code repositories that Monticello knows about, usually because it has loaded code from them. If you select a package in the left pane, the right pane is filtered to show only those repositories that contain versions of the selected package." However, I don't see that happen. If I select e.g. OmniBrowser in the left pane, the list in the right pane is reduced to a local path on my filesystem (the package-cache). But if I deselect all in the left pane to see all the repositories in the right pane, then select 'http://source.wiresong.ca/ob' and open the repository I get a browser containing lots of newer version of OmniBrowser (and other packages). Now these repository browsers always take some time to load and I have to check different repositories by hand to find the latest version. What is the right way to search (and update) to the latest release of a package? Thanks for your help, Christoph

Tools flap icon order

Is there an easy way to change the order of the buttons on the Tools flap? It seems like they should either be in alphabetical order or in order by how frequently they are used. To my beginner eyes it doesn't seem that either is the case since Browser is at the bottom. --- Mark Volkmann

monticello and packages..

okay, i have a stupid question.. i am reading SBE, and trying to figure out how to to get my current seaside project into my repository.. i made a repository at squeaksource, and that looks okay.. i can log into it.. but i can't figure out how to package up my code classes (it's all in one category) and put it into my monticello package.. any ideas? thanks! ___ peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary www.village-buzz.com

In short: - if you have a class category: 'Foo' with a class 'Bar' in it - open the monticello browser from world menu - click on "+Package" to add a new package - name it 'Foo' - select the new package in the list of packages (if you click on browse you will see what's in your package, you should see your class Bar) - click on "+Repository", select HTTP, enter your squeaksource projects data - hit "Save" on the selected repository, make a comment on the version and upload You should read the short intro to the tools http://www.bergel.eu/download/squeaktools.pdf Bye Torsten -- Psssst! What's going on here? It's defined in ProtoObject (the superclass of Object) which is the root class in the Squeak hierarchy. Other Smalltalks have Object as the root class of the hierarchy. You wont find the implemention of #== interesting since it is implemented as a primitive. However you should learn about the difference of = and ==. I'm sure it is explained in any Smalltalk book [1]. BTW: Just click on "open" -> "method finder", enter "==" and ENTER. Click on the first displayed result. The Method finder will show you where a specific method is implemented. I'm reading "Smalltalk Best Practice Patterns". On page 49 there is this example code. Object>>= anObject ^self == anObject I've never seen == in Smalltalk before. It doesn't seem to be a method in Object within Squeak. What's going on here? --- Mark Volkmann

Squeak-specific syntax

I know that the syntax for literal and dynamic arrays is specific to Squeak. Is the @ method in the Number class for creating Point objects specific to Squeak? Is there any other syntax that is specific to Squeak? --- Mark Volkmann

Morphic Layout

Can anyone help me learn the 'modern' way of laying out morphs? I'm trying to create a stack-based ('RPN') calculate in Squeak (more as a way of learning the language and environment than because the world needs another calculator). I've been digging through 'Squeak: Open Personal Computing and Multimedia", which is a bit dated. The section on Morphic recommends using 'AlignmentMorph', but the comments for this class (in Squeak 3.10) suggest it is no longer needed. So, what is the best way to layout a set of morphs? At least for now, all I need is a grid of buttons, that will look sensible when the parent calculator morph is resized.
