Morphic Histogram?

Does anyone know of an existing "histogram morph?" I found both PlotMorph and PieChartMorph, but nothing like a histogram! I could start with PlotMorph, but I figured SURELY there is a histogram morph somewhere...! Thanks, Rob

Hm, Probably the method exists for compatibility reasons: The Class description says about MVC, wxWidgets etc.

Constructing the browser morph

When you start a browser in Morphic with 'Browser open' the method 'Browser>>openEditString: aString' gets executed and helps construct the morph that appears in the world. no problem so far. But also in the class there is the method: 'Browser>>buildWith: builder' This method first describes the browser's widgets, putting the descriptions into a spec of some kind. then it executes the spec with a builder provided by a sender, presumably to construct the specified morph. But this method isn't executed when the brower starts. And I can't locate a real sender for it. Can anyone explain when and why this method gets executed? thanks. Older vm and images are avialable from http://ftp.squeak.org/ if anybody have troubles with the tutorials on thier particular image/vm he can download

What is it that makes this stuff incompatible with current images? Can I implement it with squeak?

Hello, I have just started exploring the squeak because I want to implement a specific application (see below) but I am not 100% sure if I can do it with squeak although it seems very potential! Let me explain the project I have in my mind. I want to design an educational game where in the virtual learning environment an animated character (tutor) will teach and interact with the learner (I will design an educational scenario with specific leanring goals). I want my tutor (animated persona) be expressive and vivid (need 3d graphic routines) and the most important is that I want my tutor to be able to interact with the learner. For example if the tutor diagnoses low engagement it will have a proper feedback. My question is if this implementation is possible with squeakt. I don't a need simply an animation software to built a character but I want my animated persona to interact with the learner (character-human interaction) and all this stuff should be work real time.... So my questions can be summurized as: Can I build an animated character that will be able to interact with the user in real time? Any ideas? Dear Squeakers, welcome to this edition of The WeeklySqueakSummary, an irregular traffic-dependent report on what's going on in the world of Squeak based on the WeeklySqueak blog. Again, too many weeks have passed since the last issue, but the number of items given below is still rather small... is that good? Let's produce more news, preferably good ones! Highlights of the past weeks: I'm not sure whether it's a good or a bad sign that some Gartner analyst has come to the conclusion that Smalltalk is a good thing [11]. Given what havoc analysts are capable of creating, it's probably a double-edged sword. One can take out of this whatever one wants, I think. Anyway, on to more pleasant things. About IDEs and GUIs: Trygve Reenskaug's DCI paradigm (read the reports on his home page, it's worth it!) comes with an IDE concept, which he has implemented in Squeak [6]. The Dependency Browser [12] allows for keeping track of one's classes and their interactions. Mars [20] gives you a native (read: Cocoa) GUI for Squeak on Mac OS X, and the Maui GUI tool kit has been updated [19]. Oh, and IBM rediscovers their likening for Smalltalk, integrating it with Eclipse [15] - I sincerely hope the project won't be cancelled given the raging recent layoff epidemic. Alien FFI [18] is a lean and mean FFI implementation, coming from Newspeak, and having been ported to Squeak. SqueakDBX [2] is a relational database access layer. Squeak is available for the iPhone [7] (makes me wish I had one), and Pier has been updated [9]. String construction and replacement

Hello List, I've been struggling a bit with some basics about Strings for which I couldn't find an answer (yet). 1) How to construct a String from Characters? For example, I want to construct a String from the Chatacter literals: $H $I Character cr $T $H $E $R $E 2) How to replace a sequence of Characters in a String for others? For exaple, I want to replace every 'HI' (in this case only one) for 'HELLO' in the String above (not necesarily destructively, getting a new String is also ok). Is there a quick way to do that?
