Grab area tool

Hi, Attached is a small project that illustrates a tool (GrabArea) for creating simple sketches without using Paint Tool. Tools like these could be used to introduce elements of graphic art (form/shape, negative and positive spaces, composition) to children. The tool itself is a script button that behaves like Grab Patch or Lasso. I had to hack grabFloodArea* method to avoid a DNU error. Not sure if this hack is really required. The project loads in Etoys 3+ but not in older versions. So I have included a gif. Subbu

Hi, Milan, and all, I just posted another version of the fileout to JIRA, this one named "showNavBarCtl-sw-mz.11.cs.gz", with the following changes: 1. Fixed bug encountered when the "show-full-nav-bar button" is plucked out of the bar with the hand, via the halo. 2. Changed balloon-help-msg wordings from 'navigation bar' to 'tool bar', consistent with other usage. 3. Put the new preference in the 'flaps' category rather than creating a new singleton category just for it. Because of the way in which JIRA presents attachments (alphabetical, not chronological,) this latest fileout appears (today anyway) as the second item in the attachments list on the SQ-154 page. Please help us make Etoys better

We're well aware of the stumbling blocks for new users of Etoys. A colleague once described Scratch as "low entry, low ceiling" and Etoys as "high entry, high ceiling". Much of our discussions in the last six months have centered around lowering the barriers to entry, which includes user interface fixes, better tutorials, better documentation, etc. When I first met Alan Kay, I told him Squeakland needed a better website. He quickly responded, "Maybe you could help us with that." (How could I say no?) Now I put it to you ... "maybe you could help us with Etoys" ... we genuinely need your help.
