Dear all,
I have been very busy last weeks because we moved from east to west of
France. I will take back a teaching position in Math and ICT, and I am
very enthousiast to use Etoys and DrGeoII with my students to explore
curriculum.
In my school, one of the computer lab seems to be based on Mac on
PowerPC, do we still support such set up for Etoys?

Interesting discussion on the Sugar list. Since we are working on
project sharing via server too, this is highly relevant, in both the
legal and technical aspects.
In particular I agree that for OLPC/Sugar deployments using Moodle
school servers we need to default to the school server when publishing
projects. Also, we should make sure our meta data (like tagging) is
compatible with Sugar's so kids do not have to describe their projects
twice when they run in Sugar.

Hi folks,
Squeakland's got its own Etoys development list & forum, which replaces the etoys(at)laptop.org list, used primarily for Etoys on OLPC.
Anything you post in the forum will also get sent to the etoys-dev(at)squeakland.org mailing list. Likewise, anything sent to the list will appear in the forum, so you can choose your favorite style, forum or list, and not miss anything.
As we transition away from the stewardship of Viewpoints Research to the new Squeakland Foundation, we very much need your help to improve Etoys. If you like developing with Squeak, or know others who do, please help us.
To get started, have a look at this page on our wiki:
http://wiki.squeakland.org/display/sq/Starting+with+Etoys+Development
You can also look through our issue tracker to see what needs to be done, or add issues yourself:
http://tracker.squeakland.org
If you'd like to take a more active role and participate in our weekly Qwaq chats, please click "contact" on squeakland.org and let us know!
Take care,
Tim Falconer

Hi everyone,
The latest human spammer (barmotbajota) put me over the top.
I've made it so a forum user must have an email address that's also subscribed to the mailing lists for a post to make it to the list. This should solve the problem for the mailing lists (not for the forums though).
Apologies for today's barrage.

I'm thinking we announce interim builds only on the etoys-dev list.
Those on the squeakland(a)squeakland.org list that aren't on etoys-dev
would be less likely to appreciate repeated builds.
Instead, we should announce only "candidate builds" on squeakland(a)squeakland.org
... ones that pass through etoys-dev first.
Any thoughts?
Tim
I have an unusual request. I know etoys allows the user to view up to 10 decimal places in a number. I was wondering if there was a way to increase this number. I have a project participant who is using etoys with a Vernier pH sensor and he is using calculations that that result in extremely small numbers. I am familiar with programming in Squeak and can alter our project's image if necessary.

An update on the forum spam issue ...
Humans are registering for the spam accounts, which makes it a tough problem. I have two options that I know of:
1) make it so only mailing list subscribers can post to the forum and have it sent to the mailing list
This is a sad option, since most of our talent is in the mailing list now, and most of our new people will be on the forums. This will require mailing list people to also read the forums to catch new non-list posts.
2) upgrade to PHPBB3 and lose the mailing list / forum sync
PHPBB3 has new features to combat human spammers. Mail2Forum only works with PHPBB2. They're working on PHPBB3, but until then we'd have a split between forums & mailing list (neither sees the other).
3) keep things as they are until Mail2Forum supports PHPBB3
This means the occasional spam message until then.
4) find some other solution
Any thoughts would be helpful.

I think this was meant for the list. I do not run Windows so can't
check.
