Major Shrink

Hi ppl! i want to stat developing a new app in squeak, mi idea is to use squeak+seaside+scriptaculous(if needed). my idea is to get a basic squeak 3.8 and do a majorShrink, then add the look & feel of squeak 3.9, and all the packages to use seaside/scriptaculous. btw what version of seaside/scriptaculous can u recommend me? This is a puzzle. I will donate EUR 50 to the Squeak project ( http://www.squeak.org/Donate/ ) if you post a satisfying answer here in squeak-dev. Input: any two instances of CompiledMethod and a series of questions and answers. You can ask other / more questions, except a question like "is <this> the answer" where <this> means your guess. Q1: do the 2 methods have equivalent header? A: no Q2: do the 2 have same bytecode size? A: no Q3: do the 2 have the same literals? A: yes Q4: do the 2 send different messages? A: no Q5: do the 2 send messages to diffent temps or instVars or other? A: no Q6: given any input, do the 2 return the same result? A: yes Q7: given any input, do the 2 perform the same sequence of message sends? A: yes Q8: does the one with *more* bytecodes run faster? A: yes So the 2 differ in bytecodes and performance. Oups, i sent my answer to squeak-dev... forward to beginners I see at least two alternatives: - Stream - VBRegex If you have a single separator string, then Stream already has the upToAll: method (leave stream positioned before occurence...) | testString sep subStrings inputStream | testString := 'split that string in this language'. sep := 'th'. subStrings := Array new writeStream. inputStream := testString readStream. [inputStream atEnd] whileFalse: [ subStrings nextPut: (inputStream upToAll: sep). inputStream throughAll: sep]. ^subStrings contents VBRegex is more powerfull of course (it can match several different separators at once). How to lay a morph down automatically

Newly opened morphs seem to arrive in "picked-up" mode, attached to the "hand" (cursor). You left-click to drop them. I went looking for the code that executes when you left click on a picked-up morph but couldn't find it. If I wanted to create a morph programmatically and have it start life already laid down somewhere, how would I do that? I'm presuming that the same check would get done as to whether it were to embed itself in whatever it was laid down on, or just sit there. Of course this might wind up embedding it in whatever the mouse cursor happened to be sitting on at the moment, which would be bad news, since in this case the mouse and the morph wouldn't be near each other. troubleshooting question

Greetings, I copied this simple example from the Beginners page: OSProcess thisOSProcess stdOut nextPutAll: 'Hello World' Before running it, I did install the OSProcess OSProcess Pluggin packages. But I get an MessageNotUnderstood error browser. But I can't seem to figure out why stdOut is not understanding nextPutAll: Thanks for help. inserting images with Seaside

Greetings, I'm working through the excellent tutorial by David Shafer ( http://www.shaffer-consulting.com/david/Seaside/) but I can't figure out how to get my images and other static (non-squeak) stuff to be found. I have a directory named "Resources" in the same directory as my image file. I started the server with the following: "Kill all existing Kom HTTP servers" HttpService allInstancesDo: [ :each | each stop. each unregister ]. "Start a new server o port 9090 serving both static content and seaside apps" | ma seaside | seaside _ WAKom default. ma _ ModuleAssembly core. ma serverRoot: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'Resources') fullName. ma alias: '/seaside' to: [ma addPlug: [ :request | seaside process: request]]. ma documentRoot: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'Resources') fullName. ma directoryIndex: 'index.html'. ma serveFiles. (HttpService startOn: 9090 named: 'httpd') plug: ma rootModule in my renderContentOn: html definition I enter the following: html image: 'Resources/images.jpg' altText: 'Cybele-photo01.jpg'.
