How to add a method via a method?

Hello, I want to write a message with a String-argument, which adds a new method to MyClass: --------------------------------------------------------- aMethod: 'MyClass' --------------------------------------------------------- This is what I wrote for aMethod: --------------------------------------------------------- aMethod: myClassWhichExist "comment stating purpose of message" myClassWhichExist compile: 'myMethod "comment stating purpose of message" | h | h:= ''Hello''. ^ h.' classified: 'delete' --------------------------------------------------------- I get the following error message: --------------------------------------------------------- ByteString(Object)>>error: error: aString "Throw a generic Error exception." ^ Error new signal: aString --------------------------------------------------------- I understand that the class name 'myClassWichExist' as string-argument doesn't go along with the compile-message. silent/unattended install

Orphaned objects

Hi, guys: My son has been programming a game in Morphic and has come across the following problem. He wants to use allInstances to do stuff, like so: myObjectClass allInstances do: [:o | o doStuff]. The problem he's having is that he's got orphaned objects from experimenting, and he can't get rid of them. They're sketchmorphs. If I add them to the world, they'll show up, and I can then delete them with the "X" but they simply vanish from the world, while persisting. How do I find out what is referring to these objects and thus keeping them alive? ===Blake===

RectangleMorph vs. BlobMorph

When I run following passages (first the code marked 1st, then the code marked 2nd, and last, the code marked 3rd), 1st: 100 RectangleMorphs draw to the screen 2nd: they change position 3rd: they disappear. If I use BlobMorph instead of RectangleMorph, both Squeak and my computer freeze. Other than the obvious (don't do this with BlobMorph!), why is RectangleMorph ok in this circumstance whereas BlobMorph isn't. [Election 2008] The results are in!

Hi all Squeakers! Ok, the Squeak Foundation Board Election 2008 ended 19 minutes ago - promptly at 18.00 UTC, 8 March. For this year we had 437 authorized voters of which 178 voted, that is slightly more than 40% voting - a bit disappointing IMHO since we had 157 voting of 347 last year which gives above 45%. On the other hand 178 is more than 157, so we had more voters and thus a growing community, which of course is the most important aspect! And without further ado I bring you the board for the following year starting from NOW. The order reflects the ranking from the election: 1. Dan Ingalls 2. Craig Latta 3. Bert Freudenberg 4. Save without processShutDownList/processStartUpList?

I'm working on a server-side program that should save its state occasionally to prevent data loss. I really don't want the open ports to be closed, all users kicked, etc. just to save the program. Is there a way to save the image without running the processShutDownList command when not quitting? Headless Squeak on Redhat - HELP!

Sqweet. Hmm. Would it be better to manually insert the options I want to set into #setPlatformPreferences (warnIfNoChangesFile false, warnIfNoSourcesFile false, updateFromServerAtStartup false), thus editing a system class, or somehow put these into my own class and call them? SoC idea: Futuristic New Browser View

Dear Squeakers, is anybody out there who wants to do a futuristic new browser view during this year's SoC. It's not about the browser itself, this machinery is supposed to be (re-)used from existing browsers. Also, not everything in the futuristic new browser view can be done in the first phase; especially the tuples for what is selectable/shown in the panes are supposed to be addressed in another project phase. Detecting keyboard state / finding older fixes

(resend, as previously not subscribed and message blocked waiting approval) I'm using my qwerty/azerty keyboard for input to a game. The issue is that when you press and hold a key, you receive repeats of the key press from the operating system. I'd like to check the real position of a key, up or down, so I can ignore the repeats. I can't find any way to do this.
