Ok, thank you Ken, but the problem comes up when I _remove_ the Transcript show: message, not when I add it. I.e. Interfacing C library

Hello, I am creating an ID3 tag editor in squeak smalltalk. There is a C library called id3lib that is capable of parsing and modifying id3tags. I have been searching the squeak wiki but I do not understand how to interface smalltalk code with this library(looked at FFI,Named Primitives). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I'm digging into some code I haven't touched in at least a year. I was surprised when something which used to work no longer works. The image has moved from a PPC Mac to a Windows PC. It is based on 3.10.2-7179. The error that appears to be happening is when I attempt to put something into a Dictionary at a key that doesn't exist, I'm getting an #errorKeyDoesNotExist instead of it just putting the thing into the dictionary at that (new) key. Dictionary>>at:put: is clearly supposed to create a new key if one doesn't exist. OK, I just did a Quit->Save and started it back up again and the problem went away. :/ If anyone has any explanation, please share. Otherwise since the problem is gone, you can happily ignore me :) Thanks, Tim

Chronos package loading error

Hi - Chronos (http://www.chronos-st.org & http://www.squeaksource.com/Chronos ) would load into and work in Squeak 3.9, but it won't load into 4.2. The error given is 'Futures must be sent messages' I think this comes up because Chronos has a class InfiniteTimepoint that has two class side methods: InfiniteTimepoint class >> polarity: polarity ^polarity ifTrue: [self future] ifFalse: [self past] and InfiniteTimepoint class >> future Future == nil ifTrue: [Future := (self basicNew) bePositive; beImmutable]. ^Future For some reason when polarity: is compiled it is using Object>>future rather than the version of future that is defined by InfiniteTimepoint. Is there any way to change the load/compile order of those two methods when loading into 4.2? I know I could rename the InfiniteTimepoint version of future to something else but its a package that works as is on VisualWorks, Dolphin, Pharo, and Gemstone. So I'd either maintain a separate version for squeak or have to get the package maintainer to make a change for all platforms and users. I'm using linux and the all-in-one app from squeak.org Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Paul

Windows Starter

Hello, Ive developed a program that is available over the internet with the specific instrutions to windows users to "drag and drop the image file onto the squeak.exe file" seems simple enough to me, but it seems like some people just want to double click everything no matter what you say. LOL! So, does anyone know where I can get a open source starter program that can sit on their desktop and they can click on it and it starts my image file. I know nothing about windows as ive been using only linux for over 10 years, so this would need to be a simple text file I could tinker with or something - is there such a thing? Many thanks

Hi, The C function is like this; BOOL ComputeVector (int startIdx, int endIdx, double *inputSeries, int duration, int *outBeginIdx, int *outNBElement, double *outSeries); My trial method is apiComputeVectorWith: startIdx with: endIdx with: input duration: duration with: outBeginIdx with: outNBElement out: out <cdecl: bool 'ComputeVector' (long long double* long long* long* double*)> But with these input variable, I got error with "could not coerce arguments". input := ((1 to: 100) collect: [ :i | i ]) asFloatArray. startIdx := 0. endIdx := input size - 1. duration := 4. outBeginIndx := IntegerArray new: 1. outNBElement := IntegerArray new: 1. out := FloatArray new: input size. computer apiComputeVectorWith: startIdx with: endIdx with: input duration: duration with: outBeginIdx with: outNBElement out: out.
