Hi all, I'll use a "space watcher' like the one described in Mark Gudzial's squeak blue book, using UpdateStringMorph in a method like this between {{ }} e.g: {{ AOMView>>domainWatcher: anObject message: aSymbol "Show in an Update StringMorph the output of a message in a certain object in AOM Domain use it in this way, in a workspace: AOMView domainWatcher: <target object name> message: #<message>." | spaceWatcher | spaceWatcher := UpdatingStringMorph new. spaceWatcher stepTime: 10; target: anObject; getSelector: aSymbol. spaceWatcher openInWorld }} I want to send #aSymbol to getSelector with arguments (for example to get an element from an Array), what I have to do? in this way I can send only message with a method with no arguments but I need a different behaviour. squeak wiki software

Howdy all, I just started using squeak. I am interested in running a squeak wiki on a Linux server. I see that there are various versions that I can install. Can I get some input on the benefits of using swiki, pier and any other choices? We will be using the wiki to collaborate with kids that are learning about computers. Gary

Hi all, I'm trying to work with my students on a Etoy project, a Lemmings/Pingus Clon, where every student select a feature of the game: Making the creatures fall, blown up, drag (horizontal and vertical). Now we want to integrate all the work. There is a possibility to make this on Squeak (using a superwiki, Monticello, anything)... or the only way to integrate the work on Etoys is redoing it all on a project? Cheers, Offray

CPU usage for VM

Hi everybody, I am starting with Squeak, and see some strange CPU usage pattern while using Squeak VM 3.9-8 compiled on Debian Linux unstable. When using the 3.9rc1-7061 image, sometimes I have around 25% processor usage when doing nothing. Some simple thinks like Exploring an object causes 8 to 10 seconds of 100% CPU usage. Hello, While customising the latest Squeak (3.9 build 7066) to my preference I noticed a setting that causes the windows VM to crash. If you go to the preference browser, and set the general >> tinyDisplay setting to enabled, and after that if you create a new MVC project, enter it and leave it to go back to the main project, the result is that the VM will freeze. Is this a know issue ? Where is the place to report bugs (or check if some have already been raised) ? Thanks ! Stephane

headless swiki for Mac OS X? -nodisplay and -headless not available?

I'm trying to get a swiki running on my mac such that it starts at boot time and doesn't depend on me starting the Mac OS X Squeak app wrapper manually upon desktop login. Is that possible and if so, has somebody documented it? It looks like it should be possible to fire off "squeak -headless" or "squeak -display" in a system startup script but I only find Linux and Solaris versions for server-only mode. The 3.8.latest version of Squeak for Mac OS X doesn't seem to like either option. Thanks in advance for any insights or pointers to documentation.
