Trackerfixes in webDav

Hi, could the issues in the Tracker be made available to a web dav directory so a lazy bum like me could just load the fixes without leaving Etoys. Struckture like jira SQ-417 mygreatfix.001.cs.gz mygreatfix.002.cs.gz SQ-418 nowFixed.002.cs.gz and so on This would be so nice :-) Karl

Can we run E-toys in Windows 98?

Hi all, There are some teachers here (they are from Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) asking to work with Etoys, but their lab has computers running windows 98... Would be possible to run E-toys by any chance with that Windows? They have already tried with the last version of Etoys (from Squeakland) but did not work... Placing new parts in Supplies

Hi Subbu, To add a morph to a bin just drag and drop it onto the bin. This is a little tricky with etoys but I have found that 1)have the object at hand 2)open the bin 3)grab the object (use halo's if necessary) 4)drag it over the bin and drop This will give you a thumbnail in the bin that works like anything else. The tricky, frustrating thing is the bin will have a tendency to close if not treated correctly while moving the cursor. Practice and skill can overcome this. Halos around bin buttons can be used to remove them from the bin. I don't know what etoys policy is on reseting the bin contents. My experience with squeak is that bin contents are preserved unless there is some manual intervention. So saving an image should keep the new button in the bin when you restart. When I load a project from for example Bert, next time I open "Load a Project" I have to start over to locate Bert before looking at his next project. Could the "Load Project" remember last loaded project and open in the same directory ? I guess this issue will be more noticeable if there are 1000 people in the list Showcase Squeakland/everyone, it's going to be hard to find where the project was. Karl

Squeak Etoys interface with Arduino (first version available)

We're proud to announce the first public version of the Squeak Etoys interface with Arduino. You can download it from here: http://tecnodacta.com.ar/gira/Arduino.3.rar It works in Windows and Linux (you will need to make a symlink in Linux to make it work with Squeak though, see README.txt for more information about the installation and usage). I must warn you it's not really finished and it still contains a lot of bugs I haven't been able to fix. The one that I find most annoying occurs when you first connect the board (in Linux it happens every time, actually). If you leave a transcript open, a few seconds after you click "connect", you'll see the following error (which I really don't know how to handle so I just copied it to the Transcript): a Firmata(xxxx): Error: subscript is out of bounds: 34 After that, the input pins no longer work and you need to "reactivate" them by reseting the slot "is reading digital pins". Once you've done that, it works ok. Anyway, thanks for the interest you've shown in this project, I hope you'll find it useful. Any comments, critics, bug fixes, are greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Hi, How does one place new parts into the Supplies flap from a project? I tried registering a quad for "Plugin Supplies" flap but re-enabling Flaps resets the quad list to the default settings. I would rather not modify the built-in defaults at this time. Subbu

Tomorrow I need to submit an Etoys release for Sugar. So far we have a language update for Spanish, a fix for SQ-394, and re-saved example projects. Anything else? Encoding for uploading projects

Yoshiki, when Etoys uploads a project to webdav, does it encode the file name as UTF-8? Is there perhaps an HTTP or HTML header we must set to indicate to the server the filename's encoding? Even if the Squeakland server cannot handle non-ASCII names for now, we should make sure Etoys does the right thing. Maybe someone could test with a regular DAV server? Vn EToys localization

BTW, the wiki is very slow from Vietnam ...
