Hi Alain, Your fix works so thanks for that. However, I see that my html text was not "rendered" as you would expect to see in a browser. All I saw was the same html text that I wanted to be rendered. Version 2.5b6 for VW is ready

I just published Seaside 2.5b6 for VW on the public repository. It is based upon Seaside2.5b6-avi.8.mcz 15-Jan-2005 16:15 i.e. the very latest version of 2.5b6. This port includes all the fixes that were discussed here: - file upload - lost halo icons and missing styles Note: I also fixed Seaside 2.5b5 on the public repository. For the fun, I added the Seaside logo on some of the pages. Bundle to load : either SeasideForWebToolkit or SeasideForSwazoo. Enjoy, Michel.

Nested form tags

I came accross some weird situation when using a component that is a composition of other components. A subcomponent may in turn be a composition of some more components. To make things even more complex, some deeply nested subcomponents may call some other component. Some of the subcomponents may contain some input html tag and as such will require to be contained in a form html tag. In such a complex construct it may be difficult to decide exactly what component should have the responsibility to generate the form tag. Also, it happened frequently to me that form tags become nested especially when a subcomponent calls another component that happens to be a dialog. Therefore I am making the following suggestion : Seaside should prevent form tags from being nested. It should discard any form tag that occurs within a previously opened form tag. With this in place, I can design a component that needs a form with a form construct knowing that if my component happens to be used inside a form, then my form construct will be discarded. Otherwise my form construct will be preserved. If my component calls a dialog component, the form generated by the dialog component will be discarded if my component happens to be used from inside a form. Michel.

WACurrentSession value returnResponse: response. The original implementation does not use a continuation and therefor evaluates the rendering block in quite a strange context. I tested my enhancement with the included tests and do not see problems. So you certainly ask, why don't I just publish my modification to SqueakSource? I will do but ... I noticed that I sort of started to fork Seaside, even tough I am always trying to merge in the latest changes of all other commits. I am forced to fix and enhance a lot of things for Magritte and SmallWiki 2 in Seaside, that I cannot just do with method extensions. The change that I require above is yet in another package (SeasideAsync), and I will have to fork that as well if you don't update the official packages. Having an official Seaside and one for Magritte/SmallWiki will lead to confusion, as it already did ... :-( Please could you merge in my changes from time to time? Hi! I am new to Seaside and has quite resently started of with a web-app. I have made a page with a textArea but I want the textArea to be larger. I have looked trough some code parts and found out that in WAHtmlRenderer the message (textAreaWithValue: callback:) specifies the size of the item. If I change that message, my textArea do change, but I just asume that then ALL textAreas changes in size. Right? So how do I just change my textArea in size? Second question: When I made my class ready the way I want it to show and interact, I have to log in at seaside/config and add my entry point to be able to see my page (a have also figured out about canBeRoot). How can I make this by code? Third question: Is is possible to maka a class and make instances that becomes different pages? I am supposed to read in from a file what the header is supposed to be called aso. Many thanks in advance! Marcus

Hi, Thanks for keeping the SeasideAsync package going! I am finding the package very helpful. I have loaded SeasideAsync-mb.2 and came across a weird scenario. I have a little log file viewer that basically updates the display every x seconds with the new log file contents. I use refreshDivWith:every: to achieve this. The file stream is basically written to the display like this: renderStream: aStream on: html aStream reset. [ aStream atEnd ] whileFalse: [ | aLine | aLine := aStream nextLine. html text: (aLine copyWithoutAll: {Character cr. Character lf}); break ] In Mozilla my output looks like it always did: Log file line 1 Log file line 2 Log file line 3 Log file line 4 Log file line 5 In IE and Opera I now have an empty line after every line: Log file line 1 Log file line 2 Log file line 3 Log file line 4 Log file line 5 This can become a little bit anoying. I have a feeling this behaviour has something to do with the change in the new version that replaces every " " with " ", but I am not sure. Any ideas on getting IE and Opera not to put a new line after every line? I added a circumvention for it and published it as SeasideAsync-mb.3. While at it I did some refactorings and added two methods #divNamed:with:refreshWith:every: #spanNamed:with:refreshWith:every: That should allow you to code something like this html divNamed: 'sys-log' with: [html renderLogOn: html] refreshWith: [ :text :h | h renderLogOn: html] every: x seconds. where the div has also some contents during normal rendering. If you use Squeak Comanche package (KomHttpServer) in Squeak 3.8 for serving files you may run into the same problem I already described in previous posts regarding the changes in the stream hierarchy. You have to patch the ModFile>>processHttp method in a Squeak 3.8 image with Comanche and Seaside loaded. Here is the code that works for me in 3.8 to serve files correctly: processHttp | fullFilePath method fileStream | method := ModCore method. (#(#GET #POST) includes: method) ifFalse: [^false]. fullFilePath := ModDoc fullFilePath. (FileStream isAFileNamed: fullFilePath) ifFalse: [^false]. self processSubModules ifTrue: [^true]. fileStream _ FileDirectory default readOnlyFileNamed: fullFilePath. fileStream ifNil: [^ false]. I'm new to Seaside, and web applications in general. I have an application that produces MIDI files. I was hoping to control playback of the MIDI file within the browser. I read that the way that, in general, the way to accomplish this using html is something like: <EMBED SRC="some.mid" HEIGHT=60 WIDTH=144> Does anyone have an example of how to implement this in Seaside?
