[ANN] Phantasia: A CSS Framework

Dear anyone interested in working with Smalltalk objects: Now you can write in Smalltalk to style pages with CSS. Instead of styling with ugly, boring and long Strings (where you must perform a continuous visual sweeping of the code to make the most trivial modification), you can create high-level super sexy CSS constructs, track and review your styles with the standard Smalltalk tools (XReferences), and share constructs and configurations easily. The framework includes a set of 40 fixed layout templates ready for use, and let you compose the basic CSS elements as objects. A note: If your department, office, ark, whatever, have graphical designers, they rarely would love to learn this new strange prolific ninja environment called Smalltalk just for writing CSS - besides, a lot of them are already in love with anything after the word "Adobe" -, but, for smalltalkers, by far we believe that's easier to work inside Smalltalk with objects than in a file-based way. SEO and Seaside

Is Seaside/Squeak SEO-friendly? My website isn't showing up in any search results on Google, Yahoo!, or MSN. Apparently, spiders have a hard time scanning my website. Perhaps because of the "dynamic" nature of the application? Thanks, Richard

Hi, I was just wondering if I could get a clarification or brief explanation on #states and its uses (when to use, why). >From my understanding, it seems that #states should be used when the return value of #children is dynamic over the life-span of the component. #states should return the same thing as #children in this case (a collection of the child components)? If the child components do not change in the life-span of the component, then there is no need to implement #states on the component. #states enables backtracking to work correctly on the components which have been changed within the life-span of the component. (/enables seaside's ability to track the dynamic components such that backtracking will work correctly) Is this correct? Is that all I need to know, or am I missing something? Thanks, Eric

GData and Seaside

Hi, At heart, Google Data APIs use Atom feeds and entries (XML) as a data format and HTTP as a protocol for data transmission - extending the Atom Publishing Protocol. http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/index.html http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/overview.html Does somebody have used some API google provide in conjonction with seaside ? I'm thinking especially to those of calendar, contact and also all the common elements (http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/elements.html) and OAuth (http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/articles/oauth.html) If not, I'll give a try in the next monthes (I think 2009/02) and of course, I'm open to all suggestion. I don't know if it's better to use seaside internal request handler or use direct http request processing. I've found several interesting links: -using gdata with ruby (http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/articles/using_ruby.html) -using gdata with curl (http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/articles/using_cURL.html) -... calling components inside an updated ajax div

Hello list, I have an application with a login system (basically from the tutorial) where the logged in user can configure some "stuff". The view is divided in four blocks, an administration box on the left, a centered working box, a modules box on the right and another bottom box. I have the same problem in two situation: from the administration box an anchor which calls a component with user configuration purposes and updates the central box where the component is rendered. (html anchor) onClick: ((html updater) id: 'central'; callback: [:renderer | self renderUserDataOn: renderer]); with: 'Change User Data'. i can modify the user data and submit change without problem but after clicking the submit button the component disappear, this without the classical self answer. In the same way, at least in my opinion, on the right I can drag an image (representing my module) to the bottom box, where on dropping the code updates two divs, the bottom box itself where the dropped image is shown, and the central box where I want to be able to start the module configuration, calling some components. The updating code is: ^(html evaluator) triggerPassenger: [:value | self addModule: value. self moduleConfiguratorComponent setModule: value]; callback: [:script | (script element) id: id; render: [:renderer | self renderModuleOn: renderer]. (script element) id: 'central'; render: [:renderer | self renderModuleConfiguratorOn: renderer]] the central box is diplayed but at this point when I click a submit button, which calls another component, as mentioned before the component disappears, but the called componed is not displyed. In both cases calling the components directly ends with a correct behaviour. Any idea why this happens? Christian

Ok -- just an update. I loaded SeasideProfiler and also the below mentioned NetClients and have two questions : 1) For SeasideProfiler -- I get a "Profiler" link now in Seaside and when pressed I get "no samples" in the very bottom of the window.. For the life of me I can't get anything other than "no samples".. Any ideas? 2) For the Http Proxy settings, how do I set the proxy config? I didn't notice any changes in the preferences panel or anywhere else.. Thx! -- Rick
