I would hope so seeing as that's where majority of development is happening right now and cincom focus will first be on better integration and only then on seaside itself if I understand correctly. Seaside sessions and ajax

Hello there, i having few questions about how seaside handling ajax update requests. I found that it handles differently, not like a regular page navigation. For instance - continuation is not changing. And i have a problem with sessions: when session expires, by default we redirect page to show login page. But with ajax its just returns an empty result, rendering updated page parts empty. How i can handle session expiration with ajax correctly? Also, i would like to make continuations updating for ajax, so any user action regardless ajaxed or not with have new continuation id. How this can be done? Regard, Igor

i10n or speed?

Hi Have you ever tried a counter in a recent version of Seaside? I don't know about you but for such a simple application it is way too slow for my taste. As part of the 2.8 cycle we look into ways of making Seaside faster. Attached you will find several traces for the counter application. As you can see, an awful lot of time is spent to convert URLs to String. Of that most time is spent in#encodeForHTTP. So what do you find more important, that Seaside is fast or that is supports non-ascii urls? Cheers Philippe

[2.8] isolate: not working properly

breaking isolate: doesn't return to the active (isolated) component. tried with Seaside2.8a1-pmm.411 in Squeak3.9: open the sushi store example add something to the cart proceed to checkout until you get the address form use the browser back button to get back to items for sale try to add something to the cart - you get two page expired redirects and then an empty page. what you should get is the address form again. rado

[ANN] ShoreComponents 3 - back on Seaside

Hi all, till now ShoreComponents used some special technological properties that helped to solve some general problems of Seaside applications. Unfortunatelly this properties cased that it was not easy to use ShoreComponents with standard Seaside applications. It was possible to use Seaside components in applications based on ShoreComponents but it was almost impossible to use components from ShoreComponents package as supplement of other components. So it was not possible to use it for cooperation with Magritte etc. The third major version of ShoreComponents makes big step in this area and I hope that it will be better and better. Main properies of the next release: - there's no base component class. Components are now based on standard WAComponent - components doesn't require parent reference. They can be created with classical "new" constructor - dynamic variables are used for navigation in hierarchy of components (for specification of target component etc.) - static files are now provided by standard FileLibrary This is the first alpha version so it's far from perfect. The main problem are some form processing issues so some components are not working well. Also nested forms problem is not solved now. Only platform independent part of ShoreComponents is converted now. Not quite still. VMware Player is free and users don't need to install Ubuntu themselves, they could download GemStone's Seaside VM with everything included and configured, which as a matter of fact may be easier than installing and setting up VisualWorks from scratch for instance. All dialects deserve a mention and quick start sections IMHO. Logging out from a webpage

If I ³logout² from a webpage, which takes me to a new webpage, how do I ³invalidate² the previous page or otherwise prevent the user from revisiting it (either through the back button or using history)? Thanks, Richard

Help needed

Hi, I'm currently developing an AVL (Automatic vehicle location) application consisting of a seaside server and google earth as gui.
