Hi, Given it looks like the isolate method is never going to added back to the current or future versions of Seaside as it's been an open bug issue for the last 5 years, how in general would go about replicating it's behaviour ? I think it's a shame as I think this sort of functionality made Seaside standout from the crowd as a web framework. Thanks

Deprecation of #registerAsApplication:

Hi, Just wondering about the deprecation of #registerAsApplication: which I think took place during the refactor of WASession and/or WAApplication. This method is still the #1 answer on the Seaside FAQ: http://www.seaside.st/documentation/faq/how-to ...and still featured in two sections of the canonical documentation: http://book.seaside.st/book/getting-started/gemstone/developing-component/r… http://book.seaside.st/book/getting-started/cincom-smalltalk/component/regi… Is there a way to contribute changes to documentation? WAAbstractFileLibrary>>#addFile: and Squeak 5.2

Hi, I ran into a problem when trying to import a file. I was able to solve it for this file by changing "next" to "next asCharacter" in GRSqueakPlatform>>#convertToSmalltalkNewlines: next = Character lf ifTrue: [ writeStream nextPutAll: self newline ] ifFalse: [ writeStream nextPut: next asCharacter ] However, I wonder if part of the problem isn't in the calling method, WAAbstractFileLibrary>>#addFile:, or another class's #rawContents method, which is returning a ByteArray instead of a String...? Two days implementing SeasideDoc Builders, Directors, HelpDoclets to try to wrap CustomHelp subclasses... It was coming along, but getting needlessly complicated. "I wonder how the HelpBrowser does it?" I asked myself. That infrastructure has Builders....so I spend hours trying to get a Builder to build my TerseGuilde topic so I could use it... Tests have an APIBuilder cannot use that on a ClassBasedHelpTopic.... poke around some more... Its a one-liner... TerseGuideHelp asHelpTopic or SqueakHelp asHelpTopic All the structure I was trying to build manually already exists in one message send. like I said, "Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself!" p.s. Stuff like this is a big reason "WHY" I am building SeasideDoc. Eventually, I will have the "patterns" that Squeak Subsystems use documented. Current task, first phase, is to simply display the existing help as it is.

Swiki API or Scrapers

Good Morning. Is anybody aware of a Swiki API or Scraper for grabbing and organizing the Swiki content? Motive: I am in the very early alpha stages for SeasideDoc http://menmachinesmaterials.com/SeasideDoc Currently, I am coding so that the native Squeak Help classes render as html5 via Seaside. On the radar is grabbing the content from http://wiki.squeak.org/ , organize it "somehow" and displaying it as well. thnx in advance p.s. Goals for SeasideDoc include 1. Native Squeak Help -> Html5 (current work) 2. Squeak Wiki -> SeasideDoc organized by "tags, topics, something" 3. "stack exchange" comment and entry style system 4. persistence 5. Exporting from HTML5 to Squeak Help, texinfo, "foo" formats.

Nginx serving CSS/Images etc... both ways

At http://menmachinesmaterials.com/SeasideDoc at the Left hand menu under Apps.... If you click "Zurb Foundation" you see the zurb styling with javascript, css and images served via NGINX For example, the CSS is served via a nginx location block... location ~* .(css)$ { try_files /zurb/css/$uri /zurb/css/building_blocks/$uri =400; expires 1y; sendfile on; tcp_nopush on; default_type text/css; add_header Content-Type: text/css; } However, if you select Apps->Twitter Bootstrap or Apps->JQuery UI you will see that the css/images/javascript are not served. This is because they are stored in a FileLibrary(?) internal to the application. I realize that I *Could* modify both web apps to use external CSS/Javascript etc.... However, if possible, I would prefer to have NGINX ignore the location ~* .(css) etc when accessing the locations for the apps... location /bootstrap { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; } location ~* ^/javascript/jquery-ui { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; } Any pointers greatly appreciated. thx

[ANN] ChartJs for Visualworks

Hi I'm happy to announce that I finally managed to port the ChartJs package from Pharo to Visualworks. It offers an extension for Seaside to create charts with the chart.js library. For examples see https://demos.ferlicot.fr/ChartJsDemo or the original chart.js site at http://www.chartjs.org. The code is available in the Cincom public repository with the three packages ChartJs, ChartJs-Demo and ChartJs-Tests (and additionally PrismJs for the Demos). This binding was made publicly available for Pharo by Cyril and currently covers version 1.0 of chart.js (there is a new version 2.x available). For code display of the example code this also includes a binding of the prism.js library. So thanks to the original developers of ChartJs for Pharo for this library and to Cyril of the Pharo community who made it publicly available this year! Have fun Thomas

Hi all, The following has been working reliably for me lately, for loading Seaside into Squeak 5.2: Installer ensureRecentMetacello. Metacello new baseline:'Seaside3'; repository: 'github://SeasideSt/Seaside:master/repository'; load. (Installer ss3 project: 'WebClient') install: 'WebClient-Seaside-Adaptor'. "Optionally use the control panel to add adaptor, start and to set encoding" "WAControlPanel open." "do the above but without using the GUI" (WAWebServerAdaptor port: 8080) codec: (GRCodec forEncoding: 'utf-8'); start. Best, Tim

[ANN] MaterialDesignLite for Seaside v1.3.0

Hi, Today I released the version v1.3.0 of MaterialDesignLite for Seaside. (https://github.com/DuneSt/MaterialDesignLite) The main changes are: - Compatibility with Gemstone (Except for the extensions using only Traits) - Improvement of the test coverage (coverage raised from 3 to 61% with now 485 tests) - More demos to discover features - More feature on Cells This release is tagged with v1.3.0 and I also introduced tags v1.3.x and v1.x.x which are moving tags following patch and minor versions.
