[ANN] Rickshaw.js charting library for Seaside

I just uploaded to SmalltalkHub an initial wrapper for the Rickshaw.js charting library (http://code.shutterstock.com/rickshaw/). As usual, you can load it with the following expression: Gofer it smalltalkhubUser: 'emaringolo' project: 'rickshaw'; package: 'ConfigurationOfRickshaw'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfRickshaw) project development load: 'All' This will load all the packages, including a Seaside component installed at '/rickshaw' containing various examples. It is an initial version and my first package uploaded to SmalltalkHub, so bugs and and mistakes are expected :) Questions are welcome too. Regards, Esteban A. Maringolo

TF-Login

Hi All, There appears to be 2 copies of the TF-Login package - Tony’s original on squeaksource, and one from Sergio on smalltalk hub. They appear to be the same. Which one is the “official-est” one? :) No changes appear to have been made since early 2011 on squeak source so I’m guessing it doesn’t matter which - just asking since I’m making a configuration to set and forget. Checkbox and AJAX?

Hi guys, I have this piece of seaside that renders a checkbox: renderCellFormContent: anObject on: html html form: [ html label:[ html checkbox submitOnClick; value: (self isSelected: anObject); callback: [ :value | self selectRow: anObject value: value ]]] That checkbox is actually one table cell of a row of a table (the first column) to select/unselect items. I would like to make this checkbox go with an AJAX request so that the whole page is not rendered and hence I loose scroll position etc.... So..what I need is that in the onClick of the checkbox I send an AJAX request. The checkbox of course should be updated and I also need to be able to continue executing the callback and the value. debugging javascript within browsers is hard when the browser show the response on a single line

Hi, I wonder if other people suffer from the same problem when debugging javascript: Seaside's response is viewed by browsers as a string without line-breaks. Normally this isn't a problem as the browser "pretty-prints" the output when inspecting the html. However when debugging javascript, either inline or within a file-library the script debugger (I'm currently using Mac Safari) shows the output as a single line - which makes it impossible to interpret any javascript generated errors ("syntax error: line 1"!!) or to set meaningful breakpoints. I've discovered that calling #withInternetLineEndings on the file-library string results in browsers interpreting the line-endings as expected. Locally when I'm debugging I've created a class derived from WAHtmlDocument, which overrides #nextPutAll: WAHtmlDocumentWithInternetLineEndings>>#nextPutAll: aString super nextPutAll: aString withInternetLineEndings and I modify WAFileLibrary>>#handle: modifying the WAResponse>>#document: to: document: ((self documentForFile: fileName) withInternetLineEndings) Is there a better solution? Are there easier workarounds, browser settings etc. I created an issue for this problem: http://code.google.com/p/seaside/issues/detail?id=675 Though if there are easy workaround that I've missed, I'd be delighted to close the issue. With several JQDialog ... it gets very slow!

Hi guys, I have just started to use JQDialog...because it is already integrated and very easy to use. In my case, I have tables where for some columns, the contents shows a link to open a popup. With a table of around 250 items and 3 or 4 columns with popups..that is ... 1000 JQDialog instances at render time, it gets very slow! The table passes from 1s to render to 3s! :( I have benchmarked everything. From the server side, the response is fast. I have even tried by specifying no html (so the popup does simply nothing....and same results). The way I create the dialogs and the button for them is: div := html div script: (html jQuery new dialog html: dialog; title: anItem class label; autoOpen: false; draggable: true; resizable: false; position: 'top'; closeOnEscape: true; maxWidth: 900; width: 900; addButton: 'Close' do: html jQuery new dialog close). id := div ensureId. html anchor onClick: (html jQuery id: id) dialog open; with: (description toString: anItem). ] Is there a way to improve this? For example, there is no way to make the js dialog object creation lazy (upon button click)? I read that making the dialog not draggable and not resizable increases speed..but I tested and it was not that much. >From js profiling it looks like what it takes time is the dialog creation. My Pier image has a process that looks regularly at a directory to see if there is a newer version of the pier content that is serialized as a monticello file. If there is a newer one, it gets loaded. http://forum.world.st/Auto-updating-Pier-images-td4748220.html Stephan

What do you recommend on the client side for listening to the changes. I know that Nico built some classes that link Amber with Pharo, but I don't know if they help on the real time side. Is there a single listener class that can announce data changes. Or would each component somehow wire its model to the connection? My experience with Seaside is very limited, so if there is a good example/guide to this specific question, i.e. handling changes to the underlying model, please nudge me in that direction.
