html popupAnchor callback: [self renderNewWindow]; toolbar: false; with: 'No Toolbar'. But that turns out to control the Browser toolbar, not the Seaside one. Thanks - Sophie

[ANN] Phantasia: A CSS Framework

Dear anyone interested in working with Smalltalk objects: Now you can write in Smalltalk to style pages with CSS. Instead of styling with ugly, boring and long Strings (where you must perform a continuous visual sweeping of the code to make the most trivial modification), you can create high-level super sexy CSS constructs, track and review your styles with the standard Smalltalk tools (XReferences), and share constructs and configurations easily. The framework includes a set of 40 fixed layout templates ready for use, and let you compose the basic CSS elements as objects. A note: If your department, office, ark, whatever, have graphical designers, they rarely would love to learn this new strange prolific ninja environment called Smalltalk just for writing CSS - besides, a lot of them are already in love with anything after the word "Adobe" -, but, for smalltalkers, by far we believe that's easier to work inside Smalltalk with objects than in a file-based way. User input and component state update via GET

Hi, I'm using squeak-web 3.10.2-7179 image, with seaside 2.8a-1r.572. I'm writing an application that must be accessed via handheld scanners. The scanners run an extended version of Internet Explorer that provides an HTML meta tag to capture a scanned barcode and submit it via a GET request. I've prototyped this using a raw Commanche form renderer and handler, but there is a great deal more interactivity required, and I would really like to take advantage of Seaside. I can generate the required meta tag, as shown below: updateRoot: anHtmlRoot | meta | super updateRoot: anHtmlRoot. meta := anHtmlRoot meta. meta responseHeaderName: 'scannernavigate'. meta content: anHtmlRoot context actionUrl asString, '&barcodeno=%s&Source=%s&Type=%s&Time=%s&Length=%s' However, because I retain the _s and _k parameters, I can't use #initialRequest to parse the 'barcodeno' parameter from the GET request. This isn't quite the same as the problems that Ramon Leon addressed in his 'Clean URLs' and 'Stateless Sitemap' articles. Essentially, I need a regular session/continuation-based Seaside app, with a couple of components that capture input via GET, but which still allow a call/answer approach. After hunting around the list archives and the Seaside sources, I'm starting to think that I need to recreate the notion of separate forms and handlers atop Seaside, using URL redirects to glue them together. Brushes and state

Hello!, I'm implementing an API for rendering Google Maps. I've decided to implement it as a brush. That's because I'm just generating javascript code. But now I have a problem: when adding support for callbacks, I need to hold some state; for example, the map the callback refers to. But I think brushes are not meant to hold state, that is something left for the components mechanism, isn't it? So I would like to know what would be the correct way of implementing it in the framework. Should I implement maps as components, or should I add state to my brushes; I may hold a state in the callback block too, but I don't think that's good. Thanks! Mariano

Hello Julian, thank you for the quick answer!! I checked again when squeak would be stuck (meaning, the last button on the debugger I pressed is still pressed and I can't do anything on squeak anymore), and it's when a new context is created. A real pity that doesn't work, but I'm really relieved it wasn't my fault. About the syntax errors: there were more strange ones, so I took another fresh image and retyped everything and now it works...perhaps I messed something up with the debugging... And yes, I read that post, it helped indeed and I'm gonna show that to my fellow students. :) I only read here http://www.swa.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/seaside/tutorial that render- and redirectContinuations aren't real continuations anymore (so they're calling them handlers there), so are those then objects which save some states (only those variables I told them to save with the states message) in e.g. a RenderContext, but don't save the whole context chain/stack? Enlarge the stack trace for debugging deployed application

Hi, I have to debug a deployed version of a Seaside 2.8 application under Dolphin Smalltalk. Starting Firefox on http://localhost:8888/seaside I look at the stack trace below. But to see the real error I need a larger stack trace. Hello, I couldn\'t find an answer via a google search so I hope I\'m not the 100th person to ask this. For a presentation in my studies I\'m having a look at continuations (in this case using call and answer) in seaside and naturally to see how things work I thought I\'d use \"self halt\" right before the call of another component (via confirm: ) to use the debugger step through the programm or rather I mostly used step into as I didn\'t want to miss anything. The first time I did this, I think I could go up to the command \"jump\" after a redirectContinuation was created, the new page appeared and squeak was stuck, why is that? I somehow think it\'s normal...XD, but a little explanation maybe for such a complete newbie like me would be nice anyway. However my real problem now is that I get syntax errors after not even changing that code other than having buttons instead of links. I can get up to the answerContinuation creation, but when it comes to \"initializeFromContext\", there\'s a syntax error.
